  1. me too! i thought that was the front... and it was like when Dennis was selling that "rust free" body shell...if it was dormant stock and not going to a customer i guess its ok ,but in the interest of good workmanship and attention to detail i would wonder why the back would have been left so rough if it had been just dropped off for rechrome... but then again the only thing chrome is my "chrome dome" so maybe the back surface is not their concern?
  2. willie you are correct... no wait ,not MY purse, but years ago there was a 350 automatic on the column with buckets and NO console and it was rather curious... the guy said yep it was ordered that way and when the dealer asked the lady why no console ,she replied "because where in the heavens would me and my friends put our purses??!! true story...car was in north jersey at the time... just another small wrinkle in the incredible history of the iconic first gen Monte!

    My 76

yes '75 thru '77 second gens sure were nice looking and great riding cars... there were a bunch of them roaming the neighborhood 'back in the day'... but for absolute class and style, nothing like a first gen... and a guy had a silver and black '72 grand prix...that car was awesome also...
  4. you're suspicions are warranted... the 'bigger problem might not be mechanical... like going in for a routine teeth cleaning and wait, you need $61,000 worth of implants..huh see ya later!!!
  5. the blurb closes with... "THANK YOU AND HAVE A NICE DAY" ? ! usually when that phrase is supplied or received ,it means something COMPLETELY different....just made me chuckle, after all the wonderful news they delivered...
  6. hah yea I thought of that after I suggested it... "hey blake ,step right up be the canary... whats that? $99.99 oh wait let me put my glasses on...What ?!?... there's a FOUR in front of that? oops, I' ll wait...
  7. someone has to buy the darn thing and be the canary in the coal mine...better yet ,they should donate one as a door prize at the eastern meet and if it lives up to the hype they may sell a bunch...just sayin'
  8. yes, it has been asked before, but we never get tired of discussing "all things monte"... the parts place inner fenders are in for over 10 years now and held up great. As Aaron stated you may have to open up a couple holes (a "uni " or cone bit works well ) and as we know, with any multi-fastener assy, leave 'em all a bit loose ,massage around a bit and they work. and the large washers, particularly on the lower bolts cover the holes just fine. go for it, and yes PLEASE let us know how you do...inquiring minds always 'want to know !' ' '"
  9. the 72 grille along with fenders in general...the various vendors place beautiful pics in the catalogs and then yes, it seems "they have been on backorder so long interest has dwindled" every so often it perks up to the surface only to go quiet again. now if that grille is truly a heavy well built piece that will maintain its finish over time, maybe it can be considered...but who knows until someone actually gets one in hand..??
  10. all too often the front pump seal leaks(TH350)? that red sure do look like trans fluid...
  11. yes that's always a pleasure to watch... now fire up that one press for just a short time and stamp us out some OEM fenders... we'll be bench racing on the loading dock eagerly anticipating!!
  12. No citizen with any sense of current events needs to ask for forgiveness for that suspicion... more and more the govt as a whole is showing there cards without shame...they used to keep their dark motives a bit more under the radar...kinda harder to do given the 24 hour news/antisocial media format of today... but the plus side is its seems at long last the pendulum is swinging ,albeit slowly, in the other direction ; anyone who doesn't need them for their economic survival isn't compelled to vote in a certain way and therefore is considered a "threat" to the system... keep the faith ,it has to get better!! ok enough said... you can easily fill in the blanks...now just don't come for our Montes and things will be fine!!
  13. You guys are rite on target... an analysis stated that from the time the earth is stripped for minerals with(guess what) diesel fueled heavy equipment ,to the "china connection" ie batteries, disposal and fire related hazards, and oh ,electricity doesn't come from fairy dust? and they don't like nukes either so here we go ,back to combustion to charge the darn things... until it is put back in the ground, these 'toxic fireballs' as some have affectionately called them ,have a significantly greater carbon foot print than there petrol counterparts. then add to it limited range ,scarcity of charging stations ,thermal concerns(a recent Chicago headline described them as a "cemetery full of dead robots) ... sign me up!! or maybe not. but in fairness, i hear the torque and acceleration is insanely nice ,so as a 100 mile Sunday toy, maybe they have a place, but for critical dependable daily transportation, nah I'm not comfortable at all with it. nothing like the sound of your dependable old internal combustion friend firing up day or nite, hot or cold anytime, anywhere!!
  14. where is the best place(s) to buy the chrome 'horse shoe' trims around the tail lites ? some of the parts websites look like they were designed by me i get sent tp roll cages and spark plugs when i search it... thanks!!
  15. Remarkably the sheetmetal in view looks rather solid, although maybe not of much use... can she give up a grille ,or maybe a hood??
  16. beautiful!! was it something relatively simple as cbolt suggested??
  17. how did you make out? our ever inquiring minds want to know
  18. if bench racing and early birds are any indication, cars are usually only unattended from 200 215 am and 530 600 am..and as Rob said, at least 10 years and we.ve all been ok...
  19. how sad!! looks like that was a beauty... key word WAS!! "a moment of indiscretion , a lifetime of shame, not to mention REGRET!!
  20. Stir in equal parts of penetrating oil, patience, and finesse....simmer gently, when ready, add old car...
  21. just to add more confusion in my mind... when you search 72 grille, you get a few hits--- they say new grille like in the 500 range. i may have missed it but they don't say mat'l-so figure plastic?? vendors like gbodyparts, pricelist.com ,the motorcar co... you would think they are readily available-the internet says so!!(yea rite) so from those in the know ,what is the latest on these grilles and what are these ads all about?? HELP! thanks Brian /
  22. oh sorry looks like it IS the '72...
  23. hey Willie i thought I heard that too..."I'm just gonna drive this one a while before tearing into it." (0r was that the W code custom??) either way it will be another beauty when its done!!
  24. woa yea a 1997 is now a classic...was 1997 THAT long ago?? yikes I suppose so the way time is flying ,Rob is right...we MUST be havin' fun!!
