  1. ( Laughing).....yeah , I knew what you ment. The ones I have wont work, so I will need new ones.
  2. Ok, I get it now. My springs are real strong still far from worn out, so I will look for new ones. Thanks Greg and Bill.
  3. Thanks Bill.....So , you keep the same hindges and just change the springs ?
  4. right now the car the z-bar is off and the rods aren't connected anymore. Once it gets put back together , I will snap some photos. Thanks for your time, Phil
  5. Do I need to get differant springs if im going to run a 4" bolt on Cowl induction hood ? If so, where can I get them ? Thanks in advance, Phil
  6. What do you guys think would be the problem with the rods being way to long ? I bought a brand new Chevelle kit. They donty even line up straight coming out of the fire wall.
  7. Im ready to install my Z-Bar and it;s looking like the rod that connects to it is 4-5" to long. Has anyone installed 4 speeds in there Montes ? If so, does a certain bracket need to be fabricated in order to get it all lined up ? Right now, my mechanic is thinking about cutting the rod that connects to the Z-Bar. I bought a kit for chevelles I think and I know the two cars are differant.
  8. We actually fixed the problem pretty easy. We cut the guide plates, got the rocker in place dead center and welded the guide plates up. Worked like a charm.
  9. I mounted my coil right up behind the distributer on the fire wall.
  10. I agree with you. I think your misunderstanding whats I said. I know it's not a good thing at all just becasue they have seen it. It is something that can be fixed but the head needs to come off. I was told today that the guide paltes can actually be cut and welded in order to get it right also. Im not sure what I will do either buy new aluminum heads or get this one fixed. My mechanic says it's not the guide plate. He swears it's the actual hole itself where the rocker stud goes in.
  11. Thanks guys. From what i hear it's more common in rectangle port heads then oval ports. If I go with new ones, I am buying oval ports with a new intake. Right now the car is fiinally running and it sounds nasty. The machine shop i spoke to said he has seen them right out of the factory like this.
  12. Did you find out before you got it running or after ?
  13. Yeah, I will check on that. The guy working on it said the heads need to come off and I shouldnt bother fixing them. There is a lot of work done to them and they are LS6 heads so I cant see just throwing them out.
  14. Just got the motor primed and ready to start and realized two rocker stud holes are stripped and pretty much egg shaped. This is causing my roller rockers to sit off the the side of the valves. Called the local machine shop and he said he has seen factory heads up to 2/thousands off thats pretty much what mine are. He said dont go any further or I could blow the motor if they let go. What should I axpect for a price to fix this and should I just buy new after market aluminum heads instead of going through the trouble of fixing these ones ? It sucks because this motor was bought as zero miles and I have tons into it.
  15. Well, All in all it ended pretty good. I ended up getting them for $150 and they had tubes in them. I cant loose I guess.
  16. Thanks again Bill......I will make the deal I guess. This site is always helpful. Gutta Love it.
  17. Ok, so not to keep this tread going but....lol....If I buy these tires off my buddy, I should use tubes and drill my rims for screws ? If I buy brand new ones that were never drilled with screws , I could use just the tubes and not screw them ? Do I have this correct ? Thanks again for all you guys time.
  18. Thats the tire and Thanks for the info. You guys are always helpful.
  19. Bill, On other thing. You were saying dont mix with regualr radials. Right now there are BFG's on front. Your saying I should replace them with Hoosier fronts also ? Thanks again, Phil David, You think I could run them without tubes even though they were once drilled ? Im not going to the track , just street driving to car shows and stuff like that. Phil
  20. Thanks Guys, Bill, It is the tire on top of the two photos. David,I might just go with the tubes to be safe. I think if I dont use the tubes it could leak. I dont intend on running it at the track at all.
  21. A buddy of mine is selling to Hoosier quick time tires. They are like new but they were drilled. There are 5 screws from the side of the rim going into the tires. He said it would be a problem as long as I use bead sealer. Has anyone heard or used this bead sealer ? Can anyone recomend what i should do ? Buy them or walk away ?
  22. So the Montes are alot differant then chevelles
  23. What are the chances or a 15x10 rear wheel with 3.5 BS and 275r 15 tires fitting a 72 Monte ?
