  1. Makes me wonder what happened to the original engine. Bob
  2. ODE CExxxx (counter or crate engine) was used from 1968 to current year. It represents any CID and is used to indicate this particular engine was replaced under Warranty. It is a direct replacement for the original equipment. It doesn't indicate what the original equipment was. My engine is a CER code. So it appears to be a replacement engine. I didn't find a serial no. by the oil filter area. Bob
  3. I didn't make it out to the garage today. I will check by the oil filter tomorrow. The great granddaughter's birthday was today. Bob
  4. V= Flint 417= April 17 CRE= 350 ci 4 brl. 350 turbo trans. No serial number Bob
  5. I was checking the engine code for my Monte had have a question. On the top right side of the block there is a engine code but no serial number. Would this indicate a replacement engine? On a side not I'm not sure this engine is out of this car as it was not in the car when I got it. The engine code is V0417 CRE, which is correct for my car. Thoughts? Bob
  6. Well guys, I went will mineral oil. I soaked it down and let sit for approximately 24 hrs. It seems to have soaked some of the mineral oil. Then I wiped it dry. It looks pretty good. I wrapped it in plastic and put it back on the shelf. It will be a while before it will be installed. Bob
  7. Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure what to use yet. I will let you know what I do. Bob
  8. hi guys, A little help please. What do you use on your dashes? Bob
  9. Hi guys, What can I use to bring the dash pad back to life? The pad is original to the car and has no cracks. It has been off the car since the early 90's. I would like to add some flexibility back to it. Thanks, Bob
  10. That 20 degree timing is too much. That's what killing your gas milage. Initial timing should be 12 degrees. Bob
  11. Leghome, I lubed the bushings with poly grease. I read this somewhere. John S Thanks for the second opinion. Bob
  12. I'm mounting the body back to the frame using polyurethane body bushings. The kit says to torque the bolts to the factory specs. What I have found is 35-45 Ft Lbs. Does that sound right?
  13. I'm getting ready to put my body back on the frame. Can someone tell me about the alignment holes? Pics would be great. Bob
  14. I did some sanding today too. Taking the roof down to bare metal, using 40 grit. I just put Raptor liner on the under side Tuesday. Thought it would be a good idea to do the roof while the Monte is still on the rotisserie, before putting the body back on the frame. Bob
  15. I finally dug out my head light surrounds. They don't have the holes for the chrome trim. My monte was built at the Flint plant. Bob
  16. I will have to dig my head light surrounds out to see if they have the holes for the trim, I don't think they do. Bob
  17. One man's stupid opinion. Looks better without it. Unless your doing a restoration. Bob
  18. Second the AMD. Quality stuff. Bob
  19. Before I did the Helwig kit I picked up one corner of the frame and the rest of the frame still sat on the jack stands. Pretty flexible! I want my Monte to corner well. I also installed boxed trailing arms with coil overs. In the front I did tubular a-arms with coil overs. Bob
  20. I did the Frame FX kit. I can't tell you how it performs as my Monte isn't on the road yet. I got the crossmember kit from G-force. It is a self build kit. Model no. RCKIT. It sells for $165.00. Bob
  21. I might not be an expert on this but, I would think that the big block is not original because of the ten bolt rear end. Big block should have a twelve bolt rear. Correct me if I'm wrong. Bob
  22. Demetrius 25, I have one you can have for the shipping cost. It may cost more to ship than you could buy it local though. Bob
