  2. this guy should have a trailer hitch. Like the one on the lexus.
  3. Buffalo at Old Faithful in Yellowstone Park at 8;34 central time. can only see on one of the cameras, the camera with real time. don't know for how long? https://www.nps.gov/yell/learn/photosmultimedia/webcams.htm thank you stano
  4. I am not familiar with assembly manuals 1970 and up. but the older assembly manuals have engineer notes at the bottom of the page and with the note the part number of the part being noted. is there a note for part #10 in the assembly manual at the bottom of the page and initialed by an engineer? I tried to find if change of part #10 showed up in parts catalog some how and when.. to see if part changed in 1971.. looked part in parts illustration catalog thru 1975 models,,REVISED april 1983,, showed part #10 (if I have right one) called BAR ASM, frt fdr tie in group 1.267 looked parts catalog Pass,Nova,Chevelle,Camaro,MonteCarlo, (for 1970 only) REVISED 6-1-70,,showed part #10 in group 1.267 has a part number of 70 Monte Carlo BAR ASSY front fender tie P/N 3955032. Remember this book is only for the year 1970. looked in parts catalog Models Thru 1975 Effective April 1982 . . . In group 1.267 -- shows 71-72 Monte Carlo BAR ASSY front fender tie P/N 6261996. (1970 was not listed for some reason.) looked in Parts History Jan. 1, 1965 thru Jan. 1, 1973 (Is a book of part number changes and the date they changed or were removed.) Looked up part #3955032 (From 1970) and #3955032 was not listed. So it was not removed or changed to another part number. looked in Parts History Jan. 1, 1965 thru Jan. 1, 1973 -- Looked up part #6261996 which is the 71-72 fender tie part number. #6261996 use 3982406 12-71. So what this shows is that part #6261996 was changed to #3982406 in date of 12-71 (December of 1971). Looking these part numbers up doesn't mean it actually happened. It just gives an idea of what Chevrolet was doing and put in print. I will have to try to find an assembly manual somewhere to help verify. Hope this makes sense and help someone. Many times it only raises more questions. Thank you, stano
  5. I believe harden seats did not come in the heads until 1973 for Chevrolet engines.. So I would guess that none of the first gen Monte Carlo has factory harden seats in the heads. Could we have comments on what people are doing with their heads as far as harden seats in heads? Leave the heads alone. -- put in harden seats (ALL) -- put in harden seats on (exhaust only) -- change to a later head that has harden seats. If changed head that has factory harden seats, what casting did you use?? Don't have harden seats and use additive in gas? what ever you did, have you had any problems with valves? any mileage on, not harden seats heads, and any mileage on any fix you may have done. to heads for harden seats? We welcome any comment but we are asking for a regular highway driving car. thank you stano
  6. Can anyone tell us what the differences are in 1972 175HP (350), Quadrajet carburators for Non A.I.R. and the California A.I.R. they have two separate carb numbers of 7042202 for non A.I.R, and I think 7042902 for the California A.I.R.. Are the differences of settings and maybe jets or are the castings different. Can a California A.I.R. carburetor be set up with rebuild kit as the same specs as the Non A.I.R. carburetor if we wanted to delete all A.I.R. set up and use the California A,I.R carb for the non smog set up.. thank you stano
  7. I know its not Monte Carlo but some might like it. I think it is really neat.. http://whotv.com/2019/01/17/iowa-artist-builds-a-dodge-charger-from-matchsticks/?utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A+Trending+Content&utm_content=5c4188bc3ed3f00001d8a374&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook thank you stano
  8. the assembly manual may help. Is there a manual online we can see? for 70 or 71 or 72 monte carlo? it may show up in the engineer notes at the bottom of the page??? thank you stano
  9. This is a link to a live 24 hour webcam of old faithful at yellow stone park, year round. even if the park is closed during winter. the page has many other cameras that renew its photo shot, I think every minute of other locations. sometimes you can catch wild life. today there was about 80 people at old faithful. it is kind of a neat thing.. thank you stano https://www.nps.gov/yell/learn/photosmultimedia/webcams.htm
  10. at that time there was many,, many people trading in their Cadillac or their Lincoln for the little Toyota. that at that time the Toyota car seemed 7 feet long?????? Or the Cadilac or Lincoln was giving to there kid to drive and they still got a new Toyota???????? If that did not look stupid????? and how did that save gas????? Plus Mom and dad in a Toyota and the 16 year old kid in a Lincoln. Mom and dad with their knees under their chin in the Toyota and the 16 year old kid in the Lincoln with a back seat big enough for a harem?????????. B210 was popular??????? look that up. OK Im done...…. For the record I drove a 1973 K10 short bed and a 1971 Nova. and just paid the gas.
  11. Yep they did to save gas. and it did save gas with better mile per gallon and the slower speed. And at that time we needed to save gasoline.... but it almost stop America from getting around. people could not drive 55 mph. cars really was not geared for the slower speed either and the gearing started to change.. and those who did drive 55 started falling asleep at the wheel while driving. and accidents started adding up more because people were not paying attention what they were doing. they were driving as if they were sitting in the living room... I knew a guy with Pontiac judge 455 and 2.73 gear and just had a hell of a time to keep the 55 speed limit, he would be driving 55 and pretty soon the engine would be just purring like a kitten and sounding really good and he would look down and see he was going 70,, say a few choosen words and back to 55 and pretty soon the engine would be just purring like a kitten and sounding really good and he would look down and see he was going 70,, say a few choosen words and back to 55 and pretty soon the engine would be just purring like a kitten and sounding really good and he would look down and see he was going 70,, say a few choosen words and back to 55 but he did really try to stay 55 because of insurance price from a ticket. people would fly instead of driving longer distance.. I think driving and drinking beer started more because of the 55 speed limit. I hope that never happens again. not because of the 55 speed limit was so bad but because of all the stupid stuff else that comes with it.... thank you stano
  12. I just thought of this. I had help from our local theft recovery officer, talk to the police and get a hold of an officer in theft recovery for your state. they know all the places the number can be just about on all cars. and yes they will not tell all.. He may give you one place to look, and then he will wait a see if that works for you.... but our officer in the theft department for the state, help us and was very good about it. Helps if you don't have a record of stealing cars in you state?????? thank you stano
  13. I do not know about Monte Carlo, but other GM..if there is a stamp on the frame rail, which I would think there is, it would be on the top of the frame rail and on the drivers side ,under the body, and/or between the body and frame as not to get tampered with. You will need a small mirror. Also I would think it to be under the drivers seat on the frame rail.. Also it will be stamped close to the edge of the up and down side part of the frame, about 1/4 of inch or closer to the up and down side part of the frame, which I guess a C channel frame maybe on top closer to the outside of side of car. It would be stamped close to the side part as this would be the stiffed or strongest part to resist the pounding of the punch in order to indent the numbers, it will most likey not be in the middle of the top of the frame from side to side as it would be to springing to the punch. feeling with fingers on top of frame and under body from front to back of car, close to side you can feel a small dent about 1 1/2 inch long which with mirror may show numbers in a row. take you time and you can feel the indent right at the edge. also you will need a mirror to see it. numbers are about 1/4 high. I have done this and found it, the 1 1/2 inch long and 1/4 inch high,, dent is the give away on top of the frame, when you are feeling for it.. I have also heard of numbers being in body under trim on bottom of rear deck glass, bad thing is could be coverd by sealer to glass. also on rear frame rail, also on top of rear axle frame hump. Most likely access to number when wheel is off???? again I would guess drivers side on top and on the close to the edge and on the top. I would not want to be you right now good luck if you find we will know because we all will hear the YAW HOO stano
  14. We also have wheels of the rally style by Wheel Vintiques , and they take the original GM center cap just fine. How ever I would get their trim rings for what ever wheel you get for the fitment of the valve stem hole. thank you stano
  15. We purchased four Vission "Vette Rally wheel style" in 15X8 size. the bolt pattern is dual of 4 1/2 and 4 3/4 circle. The back space is 4 1/4 and the front space is 4 3/4. the center section of the rim is not the same as original 15X8 vette rallys by GM. it will not take a original center cap from GM, how ever you could maybe beat the original cap in with a rubber hammer but it will not go all the way in and be crocked. The circle to hold the center cap is too small,, the Vission center cap is plastic and fit fine in Vission wheel. and after having them on a pick up for a year or more the plastic caps by vision do walk around the hole and move, but have never come off, so I guess they work ok.. Also the center section of the Vision rim is a little different from original GM by mounting the Vision center hub cap further outwards by about 3/8 to 1/2 inch outwards the hump where Vission cap rest on is higher or further to the outwards. so the center cap when mounted on wheel is not as far deep in the rim as original GM vette rallys. The center section is made different and you can measure and see the difference. the center hub caps seem to be the same height as GM and Vission when set side by side. We also got the Vission trim rings with the wheels and work fine. we found that the after market trim rings usually are just under 12 (11 3/4) inches on the inside opening and the originals are 12 1/8 or so. I don't think they have the indent on the outside lip either as GM originals. We have found that after market trim ring are generally under 12 inches open on the inside hole. and the only one we found that is over 12 1/8 I think was Golden Eagle, if they still make them. We also found that after market trim rings have different style valve stem holes and are located in different areas of the width of the trim ring. So getting original GM wheel and original trim ring is a good idea.. Or if getting after market wheel from any brand it would be a good idea to get their trim ring also.... just to asure the valve stem hole in the right spot of the width of the ring.. Hope this helps stano '
