Been a little busy, got the brakes bled and a few minor details. Decided to add a vacuum pump for the brakes like the Monte since everything is open right now. Had hoped to keep the old yellow reservoir tank too, there's just no good place to put it. Had to make a plate to mount it to the firewall in place of the old canister. Also ordered some rubber vibration isolators to maybe help keep it quiet. Also made a little harness with a Weatherpack connector to feed power to it. It'll fit good in that spot and be hidden out of view.

I think he'd rather get whacked in the head again with a 2x4 than join the banana club

Picture may be too large. Either crop it, or try using a lower resolution setting on the camera. Worst case, email it to me and I'll play with it a bit, or email it directly to John.

You almost have it right. That top lip of the weatherstrip in all 3 pictures has to tuck under the metal lip of the trunk channel. The top picture is the correct orientation, just tuck that lip on the right side of picture in and you should be good.

More of a cautionary tale, not an optional path, lol. (Actually I meant burning either the car, or burning the big bags of money, but it sounded better in my head when I wrote it 😁)

it's either torch the car, or big giant bags of money to fix it 🤣 💰💰💰

It'll make a nice end table if you paint it up real pretty 🤣. If you want, I'll find the place where I ordered the glass top for mine

Rockauto.com has a nice breakdown of part numbers and its easy to use for researching. -
You made pretty good progress today, what's next? See what's wrong with the engine?

Perfect, we don't need you there anyways!

Thank you again Willie & it is a shame we all live so far away! The car would be a bunch of ashes when I make the call....no need for a water hose.. Doug's son (in addition to working with me at the power plant) has a lot of heavy equipment, they dig house foundations, septic tanks, etc. They did the site work for me when the new building went up in the back. They do great work. Little fib? OK Pinocchio....

You misunderstood........it would already be torched...."oops"

LOL...the phone call would probably go something like this, "uhhhh, Dennis,...... do you happen to have fire insurance on that car?"

The proverbial 'little old lady to church' car we hear about? What was that old MTV show...'Catfish'? 😁 In regards to other people's cars, remember I'm going to be on a fixed income soon. I may have to work on a few select jobs here & there to buy food 🤣.

Lol, that would work for me Mark, especially if you stock the fridge with steaks and burgers! Yes, I hate working on cars, but would absolutely help if you need it. Been to a few cruise nights recently and people have asked if I'm interested in doing some work for them. I may consider it, seeing as how they're nice cars, not typical rust belt stuff. I need to finish the black car first, Carlisle, possibly Syracuse, then the calendar is pretty much clear after that.

What did you do to your Monte Carlo today?

Good! It's settled then, you're the official Carlisle Car Washer! Rob will be happy to hear this -
Thanks Glen, it's getting there.

Case in point.... The exhaust 3-1/2" x 3" header cones wouldn't slip over the header collectors. I could have probably went to a muffler shop and begged them to maybe expand them, and they'd probably over-do it. I like to be pretty self sufficient, so I searched around and saw some exhaust pipe expanders. Manual type, uses a bolt and impact wrench. I have a different type of that, but it works marginal at best, usually chews up the bolt, etc. Did a little more research and found that if you get a hydraulic punch driver kit, it'll mate up to the pipe expanders with the same 3/4"-16 fine thread bolt (and Greenlee conduit hole punches too). Worked like a champ!

Thanks Dennis! I think it's just a short attention span, and I get bored easily, lol.

Spent the last couple of days putting the new carpet in place. Plus jumped around here & there with other details, as I tend to get side tracked and work on other things at the same time. I'll probably hold off on the front seats for now until I need them, still a couple of things to do under the dash and it'll be easier with the extra room.

Looks great Steve, good job!
