  1. I’ve been considering adding something like this to the bumper side. https://www.superbrightleds.com/vehicle-lights/led-accent-lighting/led-wired-bolts/bolt-beam-12mm-led-light-12b-x+color-Natural~4000K+housingcolor-Silver
  2. Local Veterans home organized a cruise to salute veterans and caregivers. Was our first public outing in the Monte and happy it survived a slow parade pace on a warm day. just by coincidence we were lined up in Red white and blue classics. Great to see the vets and caregivers enjoying the cars, I was impressed that a few of them were calling out hey- Monte Carlo! Weren’t a lot of classics there mostly bikes, jeeps and vettes. They have had no family visitors so many Of them participated in parade with signs and balloons. We decided the 58 impala was to trunks what we are to hoods! Social distancing/masks was a bit of a mixed bag.
  3. I did manage to get the bolts working. But as you can see here the mirror I have, the arm has an upward angle to it, not sure what it was off of but it’s not Gonna work on the Monte.
  4. I got a $35 version from Jegs. Thin Not great but does it’s job I guess. It shipped folded so that is an issue But it comes with clips.
  5. Thanks Bruce for the walkthrough but I threw in the towel for the time being as I did not have clearance for getting the rear nut in place. Just not enough clearance. For some reason I was ok drilling the outside holes but afraid to sawzall a chunk from inner door. afriad I have the wrong gasket anyway. May just go with reproduction thin style mirror for both sides. On door panels- the pull-handle clips on door panels are a terrible design. Couldn’t get them to slide at all. But somehow the pot metal rivets allow it to snap back together. Note: the photos below are some mystery mirror. It has a bend in the arm part that is not correct. Will be looking at Ausleys for passenger mirror.
  6. https://1971montecarlo.wordpress.com/2016/02/26/adding-a-chrome-right-side-mirror/ so it looks like 80$ to match my driver remote mirror. I don’t think I’ve ever seen these before on a car. I worry that the angle is different for a Monte than a Chevelle can you post more pics of the “chunky chrome” passenger side mirrors? http://www.chevelle.com/1970-72-Chevelle-Malibu-or-El-Camino-Right-Hand-Matching-Remote-Mirror-P5629.aspx

    Car kids

I wanted to tell about my visit to my dad’s tonight, he took me and my 17 year old out in the Monte to show us how far it has come along in getting roadworthy. My son Allan (17) was really quiet the whole time. He hasn’t been in the car since he was a baby. It has the door panels out of it, and no carpet. I noticed he kept rolling the window up and down. It was really noisy. because as I explained to my dad the front tires are too big, and with the extra pounds they were rubbing and making awful noises. Allan was flipping out. He must have thought it was falling apart. We cruised around the neighborhood and my dad opened it up on a long straight block and for an old tired motor, it did it’s job. Allan must have asked me a hundred questions after we left there about the old car. I am not saying his comments were all positive- he may never be a car guy himself- but it was funny, 3 generations cruising around the neighborhood. So grateful for my dad getting the mothballs off the Monte.
