  1. According to Chevelle stuff which also lists Monte stats there were 621 Montes produced in 72 with G-67 option out of more than 180,000 Montes produced that year.
  2. Yes Thomas that looks good, nice and level. I guess the mirror comes with 2 gaskets for that purpose. Is mirror chrome plated plastic instead of pot metal?
  3. Does anyone have any experience with purchase of repo pass side mirror that resembles original driver R/C Chrome mirror from Ausley Chevelle parts for Monte Carlo. I know base gasket is different from M/C to Chevelle.
  4. Nice find. It reminds me of my second car, a 72 U code custom. I did a lot of similar things, remove smog and manifolds put on cragars.
  5. I looked at that car in Chicago before purchasing the one I have. Didn’t like what I saw upon inspection.
  6. Your welcome Dennis, probably forgot about posting 3months ago.
  7. I organized my parts and discovered I had two sets. Need to make room since I purchased a third car. Got a 68 SS427, but learned my lesson not to do another restoration. This one was restored five years ago. Still hope to finish restoration on my 71 SS454 this year. Got to get it done for my 50th high school reunion next year.
  8. Pair 71-72 used front fenders, has typical rust at lower brace and has bondo repair before painted last. No other apparent damage. Left fender top two cowl bolt holes were elongated, but large washer on bolt covers up. $675.00 pick up only.
  9. Front lower A-arms for round bushings, pair right and left. $150.00 plus shipping.
  10. Hedman short headers, exhaust pipes, flow master mufflers and tailpipes.Everything but headers was new and only has 2300 miles. Headers solid, just surface rust. Pick up only. $300.00
  11. The 71-72 Monte/ Chevelle mirror pedestal casting # is 32155. The housing is #32153. The base gasket for Monte is 9872030 and base gasket for Chevelle is 9872029. The Nova and it’s counterparts (pontiac Ventura etc.) has a pedestal with casting #32485. It has more of a angle than the Monte/Chevelle pedestal, but not as much angle as the pedestal for the 70-81 Camaro. Also the remote cable is about 4” longer on the Monte/Chevelle than the Nova and the Nova pedestal can be easily identified by a X on the backside of mounting screw hole for the driver and a O for the passenger side. The pedestal for the Nova is straight where the mounting screw hole is, and curved on the Monte/Chevelle.
  12. Sorry to hear this Dennis. My wife and I had 2 cats and a dog that are no longer with us. Cats personalities are so unique, we still miss them.
  13. Thanks Rob, I also talked with Leo Konik and he also recommended old air products. I will give them a call. No I don’t have the plug for the compressor hooked up as I just have a rolling chassis right now, the body is in the body shop so no where to plug the harness in. There was a guy at the Carlisle show who had a 70 Chevelle that had some work done and recommended but he said they were called vintage auto air however his work was done over 20 years ago so not sure if this company is still around.
  14. A few months ago I sent my original AC components out to a place called original air group in Tampa Florida to get rebuilt. The dryer, expansion valve and POA valve look great but I haven’t charged with Freon to see how well it works yet. One reason is because just during engine break in the pulley on the AC compressor is slinging oil and you can see a line of oil on the frame as well as spatters elsewhere. They do fill the compressor with oil but I haven’t connected the hoses or wire harness to engage the clutch on the compressor so I wouldn’t think that would have any affect on oil leaking past the seal. I sent my original hoses to be cleaned and have new barrier cushions installed but they ruined them by blasting all the aluminum making it rough and dull in appearance instead of just cleaning. They weren’t supposed to replace the hoses but did anyhow and the new crimps aren’t anything like the originals so I had to start over to find new original hoses. Has anyone here had better luck and better customer service anywhere else.
  15. Dennis, I sent both of my carbs to custom rebuilt carb 732-356-4333 Middlesex NJ They both look great, and the one works well on my chassis. Bruce, now you have me wondering. I know I cleaned up the 3 fuel lines but haven’t looked for the plug.
  16. Your right Dennis, but I believe originally it had a hose going from the distributor vacuum can to the vacuum tube and then to the inboard vacuum connection on the solenoid with a short one inch hose. Did your 71 have a vacuum tube when you got it?
  17. Bruce, Here are some progress pictures. The chassis is pretty much done, the body is stripped and in body shop for paint. Aaron thanks for the picture, I believe in the picture of barn find you can see the tube goes all the way to the solenoid with just a one inch hose to connect.
  18. This is a picture of barn find which appears to have an original vacuum tube. Sorry about the boat picture, I’m not very good at navigating the process of posting. LOL
  19. I have 2 1971 Monte Carlo’s one is a 402 and the other is a 454. I believe the distributor vacuum line is the same for both. Both we’re missing this item, and the repo from parts place seems close but not correct. The end going to the electric solenoid goes too far. Does anyone have an original that I can get measurements, traceing or pictures? Or better yet bring to upcoming convention. 1970 and 1972 are different. If anyone has an original they would be willing to sell that would be great too. Thanks Jerry
