  1. The correct way would be to pull the hood and take the wieght from the top "but" I have a half round piece of 2 x 6 cut to fit the balancer than use a hydraulic jack to take the wieght of the engine to pull the mounts. Haven't had a problem in 50 years but wait for feedback from others. Did my 454 oil pan seal last year this way.
  2. Not to question your choice, changed my 2.56 to 3.42, was determined I wanted 3.73 but the shop that did it told me every past customer he had put 3.73s in were not happy. I am glad I went with his recommendation, huge difference on take off and still able to cruise at 70 mph.
  3. As someone posted awhile back, tighten carefully, they Crack easily unless the quality has improved.
  4. Real Maple Syrup? That's a pricy air freshener.
  5. Why do you drain the coolant? I always thought it was an anti corrosive and helped things from drying out like water pump head, intake gaskets? Just asking
  6. Along with the other ideas, the last few years I have been blocking the suspension to take the weight off the tires. Trying to prevent flat spots.
  7. If you install it Dennis, let us know how it works. I bought on a few years back but haven't needed it yet. Thanks
  8. Congratulations, my wife Maxine and I also married in 71 and we had a full load 402 71. Looked for years for it ( sold in 81 ), finally gave up and found the 70SS we have today. Got a lot of tickets with that one, none with the 70 so far! We will be celebrating in June. Cars and first loves
  9. They should be able to straighten them if you have a wheel repair shop close by.
  10. Test your volt gauge before you close up your dash, mine is a few volts too high according do multimeter. Not sure if it is adjustable, thought maybe could just pull the needle and reinstall. Never called supplier, didn't want to go back in.
  11. So did you drill and glue the wires in? What guage? Paper clip? Thanks
  12. I might know a guy, does anyone have a good picture of an OEM lens? I have a really bad one and replaced them with the 3 lamp replacements. So if I can provide him with my old one and a picture of it should look might be able to create it.
  13. And who among us hasn't done something similar and gotten lucky? Or not!
  14. That converter mistake is a common one, years back I bought a 67 Pontiac convertible with a seized engine, guy said it was running before he installed it. Not sure how he didn't break the trans pump, backed off the trans, spun the converter, tighted everything up and fired up the engine. Wish they were all that easy.
  15. Wow, this was quite the thread to follow. From how do I get this line off to go with a 4 speed, to I hate working on cars to which tools are best. What a hoot! That alone makes the membership well worth the money.
  16. Oil change, clean up and now a long winters sleep. Cold weather supposed to hit Monday. Off to Mexico till mid march.

    Oil

When I worked at The Case ware house years ago we would throw out barrels of oil. We were able to take some home for personal use and I used it in most of my everyday vehicles without a problem. But would I put it in my Monty? Not a chance.
  18. First for me too, thanks for the laugh
  19. I decided to leave mine stock, happy with the 3.42 gears. If your interested i can send you pictures of everything I have, I think I have everything except the clutch pedal and linkage, but iam guessing shipping will be ugly.
  20. What are the symptoms when this fails? I seem to have lost control of where the air is directed, was going to start with the control switch but maybe should start with the damper? Thanks
