  1. ANOTHER MONTE SAVED !!!! Way to go Kevin !!!
  2. Hey Rob... It was a explanation I got from an old Chevy guy years ago when we got talking about my T-Type not being available with a manual transmission. Basically we got into warranty/safety issues that the factory wouldn't install, and the conversation went from there. He did say he worked at a G.M. dealership in the '70's..... And seeing as I was much younger then, I was just trying to respect my "elder".
  3. Not that many big block "SS" cars would ever use cruise control...... You'd need a trailer to haul the extra gas tank along.
  4. I've got those clips on the console of my '70. But none in the back seat.
  5. As to the cruise control not being available on "SS" models, my understanding was that it was basically a warranty/safety issue. Adding a factory installed unit made G.M. liable for and parts failures or accidents...... ie 70 mph in second gear can be hard on things, and 70 mph and not being able to decelerate can hurt as well. Remember, the cruise controls of the time weren't exactly reliable. I found this out when I inquired as to why the Buick T-Type/G.N./G.N.X.'s weren't equipped with manual transmissions. The reasoning was that too many "novice" drivers would over rev and burn out the turbochargers (and all parts downwind), which, with the proper warranty, would have to be covered by G.M. These rules are/were the motivation to get "dealer installed" parts..... And gave rise to such specialty dealers like Yenko Chevrolet, as well as many others. Scott.
  6. $62,000.00 USD...... That's about $85,000.00 CAN. Minus all the taxes....... About $75.00 CAN. take home. Unless you know a good accountant.
  7. Is that why you don't let the dog sleep at your feet while driving too ?
  8. Hi David, Have you had anything rebuilt ? Assuming that you're running a stock engine, I'd look for some type of a vacuum leak. Might even be in the modulator or the carb. I've also read that an open element air filter can affect engine vacuum at high rpm's, Another factor is also the rear axle ratio...... Once you're up in that speed range, there's not much left to dig into. Just a couple ideas. Hope you get things figured out.
  9. The place I ordered mine from is in Vancouver,Canada.... Saved the duty fees !! They don't list Montes on their site, but have a good selection of Chevelle parts.
  10. I wouldn't get my hopes up..... It's sunny and cold here today with more snow predicted this weekend. I'm pretty sure it's heading your way after it finishes with us.
  11. I switched from KYB's to Bilstein's as well.... Haven't got it on the road yet, but after finding that the KYB's had drained out over the winter, I decided that a good shock is worth the extra $$$.
  12. Hey Dennis, Another thought.... Are there any kinks in the cable ? And, are the ends of the cable that mount to the controller and housing secure ? I'm talking about the little tab ends with the hole for the screw. Sometimes if they're loose, they'll twist and bind the cable. Just a thought you might want to check. Scott.
  13. SHINY !!!! Welcome to the machine...
  14. And you even got it on the correct arm !!!! SWEET !!!
  15. Luckily you still have a few weeks until you're going to need a/c.... And there's always the cold beverage option.
  16. Spent the weekend getting her ready for spring.... IF that every comes. lol Changed oil & filter, lubed the front end, re jetted the carb, chased that "mystery wire" down, pulled the rear seat.... and "no", there's no paperwork tucked in there. Put the re conditioned dash and battery back in, added a squirt of gas down the carb...... And "BINGO"!!! She fired right up. Now, just need to get the new tires on and wait out the snow the weather woman says is coming tonight.
  17. Corrosion in the cable or on the "hinge" mechanism might be the problem. If you can get to them, a little penetrating oil might solve the problem.
  18. Now you can more accurately line up on those squirrels..... lol
  19. Still have snow predicted here next week.... But I've been using these warm spells to get ready for when it finally stays warm.
  20. Hey Dennis.... I've got a question regarding the linkage you posted a photo of. When I swapped in the 200r4 into Montelishi, none of that linkage existed, except for the bracket on the frame. Everything is done by cable. Just wondering if this linkage was installed on all Montes..... Scott.
  21. Try the challenge of aftermarket headers on a 350.... Then you'll really not like it... lol
  22. So many projects..... lol Glad to hear you've finally gotten back to saving her. Welcome to FGMCC.
  23. Hey Rob... IF memory serves, I believe that the rapidfire plugs were only compatible with H.E.I. type ignitions. Did try them in my 3.8 L Buick and they weren't bad, better than some of those multi tipped ones. Scott.
  24. I guess it's back to the good ole Uniroyals.....
