  1. Hey Willie.... Sorry about the derailed conversation.

From what I've seen, the tracks look similar, and being a massed produced part for all G.M.'s, I'd think they'd interchange.

It's the seat width that would determine location.

Here's a couple pics that might help... the first is the Impala.

    Hope it helps.

    Scott.

Does he have the old ones to compare them to? Anything is possible I guess. I put bucket seats from a corvair in my 64 impala wagon worked well had room between them to lay down use back seat for headrest. I won't tell you what that was useful for 😅😉

I'm going to assume it wasn't a console shift....... :k

  3. I've had those experiences.... LOL

When I was about 3 years old, I discovered my uncle's uninsulated cutting pliers...... So while sitting on a floor vent, I proceeded to cut the cord to his radio. They found me on the other side of the room, a** smoking.....

Guess it was pretty funny at the time....

  4. Just a quick mention..... Probably not the issue, but when I swapped a 350 into an '80 el Camino that originally had a 305, I had what sounds like a similar problem.

Seems I forgot to switch the flexplate, (I was young once... and dumb..) and that was what was causing the binding as I reused the 305 starter.

Two broken starters later, I pulled the transmission and put in the right flexplate.

But, like I said, if the drivetrain has never been apart, it's probably not the issue.

Or they were trying to split the load on a circuit to different rooms (example: rooms with a common interior wall between them may share outlets, etc). If you put one complete room on a breaker, there's a better chance of popping it maybe. It does make it harder to find the right breaker though. I made a map of my house with all the circuits, outlets, switches, and what breaker they were tied to fairly soon after I moved in, as we did some rewiring, added 3-way switches, added some circuits.

    Same here.....

I guess that makes sense, but sharing a breaker between the kitchen and the basement bathroom was a bit of a head scratch. :confused5:

I ran into it before. People put plugs in themselves, car came to me with misfires. Had a hard time convincing them it was their new plugs, but after replacement, it ran fine.

I think the first place I heard about them being bad was on the tech forums at I.A.T.N. Wasn't too long after that I experienced the problem, and was able to zero in on the fix pretty quick. Normally you would think, hey, new plugs, it can't be that. In the mean time you're chasing your tail...

It's the application of "new" technology to a tried and true system..... Always makes a mess of things.

Don't laugh..... I've actually had to defer to this method a couple times to figure out what powered what in my house. I guess the electricians who did the original wiring had a sense of humour ???

Same here, in the older cars.

Newer vehicles (stock engines), I tend to put the OEM ones back in. Never Bosch plugs, unless you want misfire codes.

Being a fan of most Bosch products, I wasn't impressed with their spark plugs either...... Or the Splitfire plugs. They never held up the the hype.

I like the "shorter" NGK plugs just for header clearance and the Pertronix wires for the smaller boot ends at the plugs.

Mind you, I'm also using an Accel Supercoil on an H.E.I. distributor, so you have to be mindful of what spark source you're using.
