What is this? Driver door card
Crom Cruach replied to Crom Cruach's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
Brilliant thanks Tom -
Can’t remember taking this piece off! I had it stored with all the parts from the driver door card. There wasn’t one on the passenger side. Is it something to do with the remote mirror? Help!

😂

I want to put it on my fridge

size = 8.375″w x 17″h i thought it was emblem size, but that might look a bit gangster on the front grille

found this online doing random Monte searches down, pretty cool https://www.speedcultofficiallylicensed.com/product/monte-carlo-knights-crest/

Awesome detail Scott - why can’t I like or thank your posts? Is it because you’re Canadian? 😂 -

That’s perfect Denis. Thanks for posting the photos I should have taken! In a rush as usual trying to get a bit done then get back to my other job -
Would any one know the thread and pitch of the two screws that hold the reversing light housing to the rear bumper? Or better still have a spare you would post to me? I sheared one off when I removed the bumper

Thanks lads, just me and the insects Bob! I was at it for 8 hours straight between tack cloth and last coat of clear. Really pleased with the result and the color. Just have to sand out a few creatures and dust nibs. Unavoidable for a diy job I think. Happy Halloween!

It’s really hard to tell from online photos Willie. In person I think there should be a tiny shade more purple, less green (turquoise), but when I compare my photos to google image search they are much closer in shade. Doesn’t matter though, I like it and I’m glad you guys gave it the nod of approval!

I couldn't match mulsanne blue, but I spent a long time with swatches walking around the original paint in the trunk and interior. The paint system is a Spanish brand called Besa. It looks a little more turquoise than it photographs but has a lovely metallic quality that changes in different light. removed parts painted first: before clear... after clear in daylight: indoors at night:

Yeah I’m learning on the job. If you don’t take the time to do it right the first time, you will the second time! I prefer to do it once. Guide coat and lots of sanding next.

Tom (or is it Jr?) now would be a great time to share a photo of your painted Monte Carlo 🤘🏻

I’ll send you a private message Willie

Thanks again Thomas I can definitely work with an Audi code, love the color, yeah the light difference is crazy! Willie that would be great if it’s not too much hassle 👍🏻
-
Thanks Thomas. When I give this code to my paint supplier, they have no reference to replicate it - the lucite, centari, and dulux codes are not recognised here (Ireland). I wondered if you had a modern code for the metallic paint? It sure looks gorgeous on the paint lid! Paul
-
Hey I was wondering do you have a code for this color? I’ve been trying to match mulsanne blue but I can’t get the depth of color or the tone right. It’s a bit too turquoise.

got it. There was a lump of black goop (seam sealer?) covering the bolt. I see there are two of them and both height adjustable. The key lock was wedged in there, got it eventually.

Great tip Mark, I’ll take a look at this, thanks

100% on the mirrors & lock, but the trim looks like I would have to remove the glass to get to the screws - on the rear glass anyway - I’m just not willing to go that far. I did get the vertical trim off the doors allright. Just have to tackle the hood trim next.
