ISO: 1971 front fenders, either NOS or good condition used. Fenders needing a patch are acceptable, but already had a bad experience with a set that were too rusty to be used. Pair that can be used with no patching preferred.

I have  set off a 71 SS. They need patch panel along bottom in the typical area. I am in Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E-2K9 if you want to check on shipping?

  2. I recently found an old stash of Autotraders from 1986. I was 22 yrs old and selling Monte #1 (1970, 350 small block) to fund my first SS (71 SS454).

Check out these unbelievable prices!! I could buy 4-5 Montes for what I just paid for my paintjob on my current Monte SS #3!

And yes, there was even a 70 Superbird 440 for just $12,000! CANADIAN $!

Someone should call to see if these are still for sale! 😄

Ya the vin doesn’t match. A little bondo probably normal in a 50 year old car but I’m no body guy and the rocker is a mess. The way the rocker is crushed I’d possibly look for some frame damage.

Agreed! Possible frame damage is what I was thinking as well. Not saying anything is hidden, however it is always best to look at all factors!

I shouldn't be complaining,  just got home a couple of weeks ago after 4 1/2 months in Mexico, but dammit i want to get my Monte out. I don’t even like to take out the truck in this salty [censored].

Grant, keep that snow in your province!  Am next to you in Manitoba and we're expecting snow tonight! We're all itching to get out and drive! I can remember 2 years ago cruising on dry streets on MARCH 10TH!  C'mon spring!

  5. I can attest to this car's originality! I bought this car in 2014 from family member of lady who passed after having it in her garage 34 yrs. Her husband passed away in 1980 and she never drove it. It was like owning a brand new Monte! I actually drove it on the original tires and took a little getting used to, lol.

This car's a time capsule and still had the Frost shield on the passenger window! Interestingly enough my dad was the Temro rep for the city and I wonder if he actually sold them that? Will never know but it's interesting to think of.

The car had just over 8,600 Miles when I bought it. I drove it to just over 11,000 miles (as seen in pic) when I sold it in 2018 and it went to BC. Here are some pictures documenting the odometer (rolling over to that dreaded 10,000!) This happened right in front of the Dairy Queen on cruise night one Sunday!

No buildsheet under seat? Will be interesting to see if when you find it. Perhaps between gas tank?

Kudos, Aaron! it's so great to see your  complete lineup of First Generation Montes! 70, 71 & 72! They look great together!

But it's Green.... Just can't come to terms with this color. Looks nice, hope it does well at auction. Let's see if someone goes to check it out. Business man, family man's everyday driver back in the day. It could have a trailer hitch.

I get what you mean about the color, but this is one nice car! I personally am not a fan of blue, but that's just my choice. To each their own!

So, check this out! Got the gauge cluster from the shop today to clean it up....and i find this date stamped on the back. 53years ago today! 20230316_154930.thumb.jpg.b85517d22bd7f946dceff72452557923.jpgBy the way any good tips for cleaning up the clear cover and getting scratches out?

So cool when that happens! 1 out of 365 chance it can occur, but pretty cool discovery!

  10. Very nice!! Make sure to check out the 4K video.  My opinion; Thats a great price for this car! You couldn't buy an SS and get this quality for the price. Rotisserie restored and did I hear ceramic coating?

Sure, there are a few things here and there with the interior which need attention such as the headliner, but not a deal breaker. Not a fan of the trunk lock delete, but again, WOW! Niiice!

  11. I have to tell you guys how 21 yr old me broke my nose and nearly took out my eye from working on these loaded missiles!

Back in the day (1985) my 71 Monte SS (#1) had just been painted and there was overspray all over my newly chrome plated hood hinges and springs (hey! I did say it was 1985!) I removed them from the car, compressed the hood hinge with rope,  and went to town on it with my wire brush attachment on my drill. I also used some paint reducer, without realizing it was providing lubrication for the rope to move, when WHAMMM!!!! The spring unloads sideways across the bridge of my nose, barely missing my eye! I was alone in my shop and came to a few minutes later in a drying pool of blood. (I know this because the last thing I remembered was a song just came on the radio and it was just ending when I peeled my face from the drying blood on the floor!)  All in all I was sooo lucky, but man! was I hurt! ......SUCH AN IDIOT! I learned from that experience. Even though I'm older and wiser, I would not touch one of these again, though; best left to you professionals out there (those who "can" do this!)

It was probably what part was available that day on the assembly line. Do we know what plant those Monte’s with them came from?

Am unsure, but remember this "snipped variety" (😄thanks Glen!)being off a 72 as well, so that echoes what others here have said.

  13. I bought this smooth ended tank several yrs ago from a guy who had it on his Monte.  I knew it was a bit off, but couldn't say for certain it was true to the Monte. I also recently read in a thread where there may have been 2 types of G-67 tanks used; (some had a smooth end) were these used only on 70-71 Montes? I should mention although the pic looks otherwise, these tanks are exactly same size
