Agreed! Let's take a GUESS what this one goes for? I'm going out on a limb here and guessing $70-75K

Thanks for the info!

My brother found this am radio in his shop and is wondering if this will fit a Monte? It fits a Chevelle, but insure if that's the ss dash or sweep guage dash? (Would this make a difference?) Anyways, he doesn't want it; would this be worth anything to someone? Jeff

Ever try sitting (for long) there? The only way to relax in the back seat was to flip the buckets forward! No room back there, even for someone my size (5-10")

Still have my original stamped keys for the 71 Monte I bought in 1981. Not sure about where to get them, but a person could perhaps get a key shop to stamp onto keys? Just a thought Jeff

Car is a 72. Re-upholstered in 73 because of too much cigarette smoke? Yikes! Who owned the car, the Marlboro Man?

I polished all my original trim. I used a buffing / polishing wheel and different polishing compounds (Green / White) I also had excellent success with NEVR-DULL! A word of caution: Be careful with amount of pressure on some metal pieces. they can warp from the heat of the buffing wheel! I screwed up the top right trim piece from my rear window. It now has a WOW! I Didn't say WOW...I said ๐ฃ #%*!!! Jeff (Rare SS)

It looks like it needs some shine (Satin or gloss). It will also protect it from the little particles the fanbelt constantly throws at it. Jeff (Rare SS)

Rare SS replied to Rare SS's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
Ah, yes...I just looked at (and compared) my Monte SS mirror in my parts hoard. NOT samesies! lol -
I just saw these on Kijiji if anyone's looking? Unsure if they will be proper for Monte(?) Seller is asking $150 Canadian (which is approx. $115 US) I doubt shipping would be more than $40 US Vintage GM bullet mirrors ..... nice used pair | Other | Kitchener / Waterloo | Kijiji Jeff

They make them for the 70 (bought a complete set lenses and housings), but not for the 71

You could also have the dreaded "re-man" (rebuilt) compressor! I replaced 2 rebuilt factory compressors before settling with an aftermarket new one; Doesn't quite look the same, but man, does it work! As I said before, AC needs to FUNCTION properly! FORM is only for when you lift the hood! Hope you're able to work it out with the great advice here! Jeff 70 SS454

For 7 years now, I have only just used glass cleaner on the tires of my cars. It's alcohol based and leaves no residue or attract dust the way these tire dressings do. There's no danger of harming your tires, they can take it (currently on my 4th season ) It's called Invisible Glass and is the best I've used in many years! The foaming glass cleaner leaves the tires clean with a perfectly even matted finish, unlike those GREASY, shiny tires you sometimes see (afterall, any dressing/ coating you put on needs to be removed.) It also saves you from having to also clean that guck off your rims! Jeff 70 SS (No greasy shoes!)

Wrecked 71 SS For Sale In Maine
Rare SS replied to Rob Peters's topic in Cars and Parts For Sale Leads
was it in a 'TORNADER?"๐ -
I will indeed let you know. I do remember from my original investigation it may need a booster (mounted under passenger seat). Stay "tuned" ๐คช

I ordered mine last August and it just came in today. just waiting to clear customs! Supply chain delays are really messing with us! It's factory looking, but has bluetooth, etc. I also went for the "roll over" option; moves the dial just like the old radio did! I paid $698 US Dollars, (which is like $1,000 Canadian Dollars!) I still feel it is very well worth it and can't wait to install it! 1970 Chevelle SS AM FM Bluetoothยฎ Radio โ Vintage Auto Radio www.VintageAutoRadio.com Salem, Wisconsin Steve Webber 262-885-1581 888-514-3811

On a positive note, this could also be hope that they (SOMEONE) will finally also reproduce the 70 & 71 Grilles!

Found a Canadian parts place....
Rare SS replied to Scott S.'s topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
Thanks for posting this. ๐The worst part of buying any parts from these US sites are the crazy fees! It can sometimes just about triple your landed cost! I'm gonna check this out! -
$100 for a mirror is a BARGAIN! I live in Canada, so the prices always double by the time you factor in exchange, duty, shipping, brokerage fees, fees, fees! fees!! I bought my remote mirror from Ausley's. My total cost was $218 Canadian dollars!!!

My Former SS Going to a Big Auction
Rare SS replied to Jared Richey's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
I gotta say again what a beautifully done Monte! Black & Red! WOW!! Any auction price higher than what was realised in the first auction only furthers the kudos to Jared's workmanship. It also puts our cars higher on the list (also a win!) Attaboy, Jared! This car will be long remembered! ๐๐ Jeff 1970 SS Black & Saddle -
Thanks for posting pics of actual seats in car. Unfortunately my seats are going to need re-skins. I am considering updating to these Ralley seats for my SS. I am usually more of a purest, but having seen the seats in your car I can agree they go pretty much un noticed! I know they must be more comfortable than the stock buckets. I drove my SS from Southern US to Manitoba (Central Canada) and my back was screaming after just 2 hours, lol! One question...do they make you sit higher in the car? If so, by how much? Thanks, Jeff 1970 SS Black w Power Bucket Seat

Grant, I feel your pain (from two provinces over) I was about week or two from taking the Monte out! Then the storm began! *still waiting for the other foot of snow to hit...or miss us!! Here's Phat Gus; my snow guage! ๐ Jeff 1970 SS Black
