  1. Hi DragCat, yes apologies for the gap in posts, has been a very busy time of late. Yes I did go ahead and get the inspection done, it all seemed above board, a few bushes front and back need replacing , rear main seal needs looking at, door rubbers need replacing, little surface rust under rear parcel shelf and a minor patch of panel putty in one section along with a few minor scuffs on chrome, but the car has been fully resprayed previously. Motor/trans all seem in good original order, one photo underneath I can see pan imprinted hydro Matic, so a good sign all original. Overall it's really in great condition, tried bringing the price down one or two thousand to within my budget, as this past few weeks it blew out a bit due to some unexpected large bills which needed paying, after my offer he said 45k firm, so just hanging on a few more weeks to see how things go, and by then will be able to offer a bit more. He has out the price up now to 49000 Aus $, so more negotiating might be needed I think,
  2. Ha, well here's hoping bud, thanks!! Sorry to hear you don't have either, have you tried to track them down, I suppose you have?
  3. Thanks Glen, will do💪
  4. Thanks Glen!! So these forms are very precious by the sounds of it, if you keep yours in a safe 😲!! Yeh, now you point that out, those boxes do look a little odd, ha. I wonder if one of the workers were trying to have a laugh!!!
  5. G'day group, hope everyone has been well. Quick update, booked a vehicle inspection for this Friday. I asked the owner to send me some original docs that came with the car, and here they are. By the list, it sounds like it's quite optioned. Don't know to much about these build sheet info or codes, what's most important is I want to make sure that the motor in the car at the moment is the original one, and matches the numbers on the build sheet. Although it's a bit hard to read, does anyone know exactly where the engine number would be located on the build sheet or on the engine in the car? Thanks gang☺️
  6. Fantastic stuff!!! Love that green👍
  7. Hi Glen, thankyou for that, your bill of sale sure has given me some guidelines if I decide on the purchase. I'm glad both your buying methods worked out well, and by well I have to say both a 70 and 71 ss wow, they must look pretty good side by side👍. All the forum members have been such a great help as I knew nothing about 1st gen montes, but I keep finding myself researching them every spare minute I have, and really are starting to grow on me haha
  8. Also a very valid point there too Dtret. Yes there is lots of things to consider, and yes, most people are genuine, but there are a select few which are not, and it's always a risk. If I had the time, I would definately make a week long trip of driving to see it, taking my father, and if I like it, driving it back, but unfortunately I do not, hence if purchased will be transported across by enclosed carrier, and just hope the owner comes to the party with honesty
  9. Very valid point there DragCat, I do want to see, feel, hear it, but at the same time, unable to just drop plans and fly over, as I work full time, mainly 6 days a week and share care my 5 year old boy. That resource page you sent me is amazing, what a wealth of information, awesome!! I must admit, everyone on here has been super helpful so far and I am very appreciative of this 👍. That's why I am going to arrange a pre purchase inspection first, to check for rust, mechanical, matching numbers etc first, before I take the next step
  10. Ha, thanks Rob, yeh it's a little bigger than people think over here, very open, takes a while to get from one side of the island to the other 🤣, but I see what you mean about being the only people at some car shows with 1st gen montes, so I'm guessing they are getting scarce over there also? Your right, summer is approaching, and a cruise car would be nice!! Looking at booking in a vehicle insp first and play it by ear...
  11. That's awesome DragCat, thanks so much for that info, very comprehensive indeed. I spoke to the seller again and he said that there is an original build sheet for the car, and apparently has spring marks on it, which sounds genuine, as the article mentions most sheets were found under seats, so that's definately a very important piece to have. The car is located in another state, so in order for me to look at it, it's a 28 hour drive, or a 3 hour plane trip, but very tempted. Yes I have enquired on a few local Chevy clubs, not a great deal on info from the members about specifically montes, but they said they do know of people and places which are able to source some chev parts over here in Oz. Thanks again DragCat, your advice has been awesome👍👍
  12. G'day Glen, yes the protect O plate is with the car, 12 bolt which I assume is the original what this model came with, and as he mentioned last night when I enquired, he did say something like he had a piece of paper that listed what options the car had, so would this be the 'build' sheet that you mention?
  13. Thanks mate, yes I have been doing quite a bit of research and found the production numbers, have enquired on a few Aussie chev clubs, and nobody really knows too much about them, but it's looking like there is quite a following for these in the US, and as another member mentioned, prices are increasing over there where you guys are, so that has to be a positive sign, just hasnt taken off over here yet
