  1. It’s original except for transmission. I’m restoring it now but putting in 700r4 for drivability. I pulled the original 454 in December and it was rebuilt, we just ran it on a test stand Friday. All new internals and balanced with original heads cleaned up. I have the original intake and Quadrajet restored. Should be back on the road in 6 weeks and fingers crossed it will be spring in Michigan
  2. Dropped my gas tank yesterday and discovered the build sheet. Had to use a very soft makeup brush to get the 50 years of grime off but I can read it. It’s everything as expected now I have the paper proof. Without the help of this group I don’t think I would have noticed.
  3. There was only one and it came with the fan…$42 shipped.
  4. That’s it….cool. I have one coming from eBay this week …if it’s not good I’ll take this …thank you. This site has been great for information and contacts for parts. Glad to be a member.
  5. Yes the 70 Chevelle is the same. Other years too…I found one on eBay with the motor but a perfect cage with same part number from a 67 GTO….if only I had an old dealership parts book and could cross reference parts. Anyway I offered the seller 45 shipped.
  6. I was hoping one of the resident hoarders had one. I’m googled, ebayed, etc….I have a new metal one from NPD …all available new are the same. If you’ve found one on eBay please enlighten me…..thx.
  7. Having trouble finding this blower cage. I can find aftermarket steel cages that will fit but my past experience is they are loud.

    ss registry?

Hi, my car is on your list twice. I sent this to you a few months back but never got a response. Let me know if you didn’t get it and I’ll resend with photos. This is the correct information Thanks “Hello, I haven’t found the build sheet yet but I haven’t taken the seats apart yet. I do have pictures of the matching numbers on the motor and the numbers on the 12bolt rear end. The trans is not original. The trim tag shows a build date of 11D (November 69) and the engine code shows a build date of T1025 CRN. The VIN is also present on pad above oil filter. The door sticker shows a date of 10\69. All the pictures show all of this information. There are holes in the suspension near the rear bump stop that shows where the bracket was attached for the air level system. Also the hole in the upper control arm is present for the arm that adjusted the level. The holes also exist for the shock plates which I have but are not installed. Boxed control arms and all F41 suspension pieces are present. I’m almost positive this is an original ss454 car. VIN 138570 L137060 Trim tag info Built in Van Nuys 11/69 48 G Forest Green and Dark Green vinyl top 784 Green Vinyl bucket seats Pictures attached
  9. Anyone know if SEM makes a green interior paint for my 70.
  10. I adjusted idle mixture with a vacuum gauge. I’m going to look at air flow tomorrow….
  11. I did burp the system. The fan is a factor at low speeds but at highway speeds it doesn’t matter. This is an AC car so has a lot going on in front of radiator.
  12. I have the same overheating issue with my recently purchased (May 2022) 70 ss454. It runs right at 210 most of the time. This is so order I’ve changed the water pump twice thinking the first one (hi flow Stewart ) was possibly wrong direction. Second pump is just stock replacement. Changed the thermostat a couple of times, currently running 185. Discovered original current radiator was blocked…did the high flow pump break something lose? Replaced radiator with us radiator 4 core heavy duty. Still runs hot…if I drive it to dinner and come back out after dinner it will be 230-250 until it runs for 2-3 minutes and then back to 210. I changed the original temp gauge with OER temp gauge …no change. Changed clutch on fan as well. I should mention it has never boiled over. So I’m stumped. Do I take it and get it flushed…could there be a blockage in the block? …heater core? its the numbers matching engine that I was told was rebuilt in 2005 and only had about 4K miles on it when I purchased it in 2023. Who knows what cam is in it. Nothing big because I have 21” of vacuum at idle. I’m running pertronix electronic ignition and timing at 15 degrees. What should I try next?
