  1. I know I’m a non-dues paying member so I will be taken less seriously but this entire topic needs to be deleted. Have any of you even got caught up with VIN issues? VIN tampering or VIN fraud? I have, It’s all fun and dandy till it’s not..  unless you are a mostly peaceful protester or an inspiring rapper driving an Altima you guys should not be talking about VIN numbers.

5/16” diameter, present length is 7.193 my new heads have valves which are .115   taller than original valve height.

Oh. It’s kinda risky to assume the deck height, valve positioning and rocker stud positioning is identical to your old setup and the only difference is the .115 valve length. And assume it was the correct pushrod in the first place. I really think you should throw a rocker on there and measure it out correctly. It’s a tiny bit of time and very cheap to do. Could save you a lot of headaches.

  3. What pushrod length/diameter do you need? I went through the same thing with summit until I manually looked up their pushrod options.

  4. Remove the SS emblem, finish installing the trim, 2 gallons of wax and grease remover to dry out the interior and it will be a nice driver. I like the absence of woodgrain on the dash but the blacked out door and trunk jambs terrifies me since that’s common with quick flip rusto-jobs.

  5. I have purchased parts from OPGI. Their shipping has always been delayed by months but have kept me posted the entire time.  The only screw up I have experienced from them was a set of window felt/belt moldings I purchased. After 3 months they requested to refund my money if I wanted but I told them it’s no rush. After another 3 months they showed up but were 71 impala style moldings shaped and drilled for a Monte Carlo. Don’t know how it happened but I’m not sending them back and waiting another 6 months. Plus it don’t look bad at all and will be a conversation piece among the Monte purists.

  6. I bought a set from OPGI. They somehow ended up with the 1971 impala 1/4” stainless trim. They screwed up but it’s so odd I’m going to run them anyway since they actually fit nice. Plus I’m not waiting another 6 months.

  7. I have been involved with electric vehicles in some way since 1996. And now way more involved than I care to be. The most powerful and impactful speech about electric vehicles I got to hear was when a designer told all of us that he guarantees that there will be absolutely no gas powered vehicles on the road in 10 years...  I think it was roughly 1996 when he said that.

Don't understand why it doesn't fit. I have an RPM air gap, 1" open spacer, Holley carb and stock (for a big block 70 Camaro) air cleaner assy on Big Red with no interference. 🤔

Is it hitting an under hood brace? If so, can you "manipulate" it for the needed clearance?

My intake has 1” on an air gap plus my air cleaner lid is far taller than yours. It is a factory 402 air cleaner.  I’m just going to modify the air cleaner base.

  9. Good cars at copart get sucked up by the car flippers that build death traps.. carfax is not even close to accurate, just because it’s hit in the rear does not mean anything else is good. You will be surprised how high a car sells for at auction and if you are a private purchaser your cars to choose from will be limited. I had a beautiful Camry xse that totalled and it sold through copart... whoever purchased it must have been furious when they found out the transmission was bad. Do lots of research before before going down this dark path..

  10. I’m in California in a smash and grab zoned area, I also have a Kia. To top it off California insurance has mileage expiration on their policies and most don’t even know that. I have the Kia insured for 30k miles a year which is quite a bump too.  My rates jumped up a lot the last year but I have farmers and they have always come through for me. No tickets and one accident in 2021 that raised my premium $360 a year even though I was found not at fault. But they totaled my car and overpaid me about $6,000 so it’s all good.

  11. Last year was great, car sat for many years and in short time I rebuilt the entire drivetrain. I would have no fear driving it across country right now. Again life has priorities and the Monte will be on hold for a bit, not as long as last time though. Another unexpected event was a few months ago i purchased a car I wanted to buy 12 years ago but it was not for sale.  Well it cleaned out my Monte Carlo funds for a bit.
It’s a 67 dart sedan, base model with zero options, all stock original paint, 2 original tires, dealer installed waste basket under dash that’s never been used and protecto plate under the hood never removed from its sleeve. A few dents and dings you would expect. Sorry about the grainy pic. See ya guys later.024121D7-08D1-4D70-A2C1-663D5D6A8D51.jpeg.ecf738441b880c39b7c713ca33f9e157.jpeg

  12. My wife and I have wanted to spend more time exploring the country. She wanted comfort and technology while I was more interested in capability off road.  I started poking around YouTube to see what’s out there and the new Grand Cherokee really impressed me.  I would never buy a new American vehicle till I came across this Jeep. We both fell in love with it. The purchase went as smooth as possible and they sold it 6k under MSRP and a total of 11k under asking price.  Small lift and more capable tires and she’s ready to go.290207C6-38B0-4EA7-AE6D-646C0367A6AB.jpeg.617fa9cc79ca9d6c32967cb795e7cfba.jpeg

  13. I had shaved door handles on a 90 5.0 mustang I built. It was cool but became a hassle as time passed.. I locked myself out (sometimes with it running) at least 50 times over the years.. finally the emergency “pop” switch went out and I was locked out in the ghetto area of Reno. I don’t know how many times I had the key fob in my pocket and hit the release button by accident and came out to a door or two open wide in the parking lot. The worst one was I popped the door by accident on a steep hill and the door flew open and smashed the side of a 58 mercury hardtop..  I changed the setup to a double pop so it had to be pressed twice to fully release but I would never do it again.

  14. Looking for dash speakers that fit with little effort..  my car has the factory brackets still but I can’t figure out what dimension belongs in there..  if anyone can point me the right direction that would be great. Quality is not too important as it’s a stock radio.. my expectations are not very high.
    thank you

  15. Grab a piece of sheet metal and do some test runs with different size drill bits... usually a conventional hole will still work.. never done it on a Monte but the 64 falcon had something like 46 square holes down the peak from the factory.. a standard drill bit worked for me, on all 46 holes I had to drill.
