  1. We bought front patch panels from OPG The OPG panels were funky...the metal was not as heavy as stock and their creases umm or lip edges were not crisp. We used them anyhow and hated how they looked so much that we ended up buying some better front fenders and just started over. We were lucky though when it came to fix the rear quarters Mike B was fabbing his and we bought a set from him....We used only one of the rear quarter patches that Mike B made and it was a perfect fit and installed like a dream.
  2. MMMM Those look sweet...Love the look...they are low pro yet beefy! Welcome....=) Jaylene
  3. Mike and Jaylene Welch's 71 Monte Carlo
  4. oh Marcello it looks really nice. Nothing like shiny chrome...
  5. I'm just showing off my new hubby...well he's the same old hubby but he's lost over 40lbs!!
  6. Looks great Mac....be glad you don't own a 70 or 71...WAY more fins to polish!!
  7. LOL Thanks Allen you pointed out some area's I hadn't thought of. I did the double stick on the license plate but never thought about the lock thingy or the springs. I need to order more Fatmat...I covered every square inch of the interior and the bottom of the trunk and the wheel well area inside the trunk but ran out so didn't have any for the trunk lid. As for turning down the stereo.....pppffffttt What fun would that be!...LOL
  8. Hey does anybody have any suggestions on how to quiet the trunklid down? I stuffed a bunch of foam padding into it where I could and its better but my gosh when Mike cranks the stereo it sounds like the back end of the car is gonna rattle off. It sounds great on the inside of the car...you can't hear the rattling, probably because we fatmatted the entire inside of the car....but standing outside the trunklid vibrates really loud. I was thinking of buying some of that spray foam and filling the trunk lid but I'm afraid of what it might do??? What do you all think? I have a video of what I am talking about but the lyrics of the song are not appropriate to post on the site. Sublime....=) PM me if you wanna hear what I am talking about.
  9. You wanna see trick...this is Joe's Monte I think it has a 59 Impala for the dash as well as the rear deck
  10. Hi Robin, Hey welcome to the site! Be sure to post some pictures of your Monte when you get it finished up. Sorry I don't have a definite answer to your question about the drip rail trim. For some reason I am thinking its not being reproduced. I say that because I think that's why we reused ours when we put our car back together, but I can't remember. I am sure that someone will chime in though. Since your car is near finished you should consider joining us for the Western Meet in Bishop, California, October 3, 4, & 5. Its going to be alot of fun and we would love to have you join us. In case you've missed it here is a link to the information page: Western Meet Info Let me know if your interested! Jaylene
  11. Who Me??? Never Can't wait to see her finished!
  12. Rod...is that a sneak peek at April???
  13. Man I always forget about that page....thanks. I knew when he handed me the 72 it was different than my 71 but I thought that maybe the repop emblems were just generic with no difference in the crest...but the attachment pieces wouldn't fit my 71 at all when I got home and tried to put it on. I even made Mike come out and check to make sure I wasn't just being dingy trying to put it on wrong...but it just didn't fit.
  14. The 1972 emblems are $69 dollars from True Connections....I know this because I went in to buy one for my 71 and they sold me a 72. I said to the guy "this says its for a 72" and he told me they were the same. Well when I got home and tried to put it on it didn't work. So I went back down and exchanged it for my 71 and viola it fit just fine, but was $5 more?? The 72 one they gave me didn't have the roman numerals on the Knights helmet but the 71 does, was that the case for the stock emblems? Both of the Emblems that True Connections gave me were from Trim Parts so I don't know why one would have the year and not the other. Mike was happy because he liked the little VXXI....is that right??
  15. could have been worse....Mike "filled up" his dads truck for him when he was little.....with water.
  16. I've looked a few "SS" cars which ended up being nothing but a 350 car with bucket seats and a console, but I was able to tell thanks to this website that they were not truly "SS" but only because of parts that were missing (the 454, air ride, boxed arms). Now if someone was trying to sell me a good clone then I could probably be taken. So I would have to agree that it should be illegal for a seller to fake things like the blocks and paperwork. It's fraud no two ways about it, and the only reason someone goes to that much trouble is to "steal" the extra money they can get for a "valuable" vehicle from some unsuspecting buyer like me.
  17. Hey Robin, I don't know if you have a child who is a student or not but if you do you can get a deal on the IMac on the apple website. It will save you between $50 and $100 depending on which model you choose. You can also pick up alot of software using the student discounts as well. There is also a version Microsoft Office for Mac that I bought for $100 when I got my IMac. Actually my father in law just went to Best Buy a few weeks ago and they were running a 24 month no interest no payments deal and he picked up two 24 inch IMacs and a MacBook. 18. IMAC THE CONS: I am a longtime Windows user but bought an IMac two years ago....when the Intel ones first came out. I had so many problems with it crashing continuously and it was really slow. Finally after about 6 months of me brining it in weekly they took pity on me and gave me a new one. This one is much better it rarely ever has problems. But those commercials are misleading....a computer is a computer and they are all gonna have glitches. One of the biggest PITA to me is when I want to get some new software and it is not MAC compatible. There are websites that do not recognize Safari (which is the Mac web browser) You will need to use Firefox, and you will still run into things that will not run MAC...for instance I was on Paypal the other day and they have a new application that you can download and use to pay for everything with paypal even sites that do not accept Paypal....BUT....as usual "Sorry Mac users its not for you" Now I know I can install and run Windows on my Mac...but that kind of defeats the purpose of owning a Mac if you ask me. Last year I bought a Windows Vista laptop and solved my "wont work on a Mac" problem. Ironically Vista has some of the same issues with not being recognized though....but I haven't had any problems with my laptop at all, and have heard horror stories about Vista. (Knock on Wood) THE PROS ON MACS: They are easy to use once you get the hang of them, as things work differently then Windows, for instance....to close down an application the button is on the left....in Windows your red X is on the right, its mostly just small things like that. It's been two years and I still haven't figured it all out...but then again I am on a Windows computer at work all day still, so my brain has to switch back and forth between applications. As said above you can pretty much just plug anything into them and they recognize it.....camera's, printers...etc. They are extremely stylish looking on your desk, and take up so much less room! You will be spoiled and never want to view pictures or videos on anything else again. They make everything look sooooo good.
  19. Helloooo.....and all of us! Looks like fun.
  20. Yeah but doesn't chrome retain heat? Wouldn't that kind of defeat the purpose?
  21. That Boy sure is passionate about his Monte parts isn't he... Although I too prefer to have the screens....but then ours is a long way from stock.
  22. Wow those were great Capri. The sunset over the Montes was beautiful.
  23. Ooopps my bad you are correct. I knew it was one of those right coast plants.
  24. I don't know about Canada...but I am pretty sure the guys have said that they have yet to find one in a Baltimore built car.
