  1. You are redefining "multi-tasking" with all your projects! I am in the process of something similar with my Z20. My car came with cloth buckets, gauges, and fibre optic turn signals. Since it had no AC initially I located a 70 Monte radio delete panel to continue the bare bones theme. I have sourced some LS6 pieces (wish I had started doing it when they were reasonably priced) as well as a Muncie setup including a correct 4 speed column. Looking forward to watching your progress and hoping it helps keep me motivated since I am only working on 1 Monte at a time!
  2. Would like to catch Westpoint but if the weather holds I have 4 baseball games for the kids. Pretty much year around baseball it seems like. I must say NewTimer your family has impeccable taste in cars as well! My pickup is due for another restoration as it has been parked for close to 15 years and the Galaxie needs complete rebuilding as it was stolen and stripped when I finally located it. Completely bummed but thankful I found it. Going to do the Monte first. I could crank these cars out years ago but 3 kids in sports put the kibosh to that! http://www.firstgenmc.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=5594&title=all-in-the-family&cat=500 http://www.firstgenmc.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=5591&title=70-ss-project&cat=500

  6. 70 SS 454 loaded with options
  7. VERY NICE. Look forward to seeing it up close sometime as I am in the Omaha area as well. Actually drove past it a time or two as I worked a few blocks away from their shop. Hope you have plenty of time to get it out before the snow flies!
  8. Starting point of 70 restoration.
  9. Z20, no AC, Gauges and Buckets.

  11. Amazing build. Just out of curiosity, were convertible frames beefed up or cross braced for additional stiffness? Once again impressive.
  12. I double checked with the wheel outfit and the price is 1300.00 delivered to Omaha with 18X9.5 rears and 18X8.5 front. I am torn between ride quality and looks. I bought a Roush Mustang back in 2000, the only car I ever bought new, that came with 18's and the complete suspension package. I know this Monte should ride like a Caddy compared to it. The tires in the package are manufactured by Nankang so I have no idea what they will be like. The salesman said a 245-45 rear would be 27 inches tall and that for the fronts they would typically ship 225-40's. I wonder if any of these numbers sound like they are in the ballpark. Thanks for the help! Rick
  13. Thanks for the advice! Going to 17's is probably a good call as ride quality will be important to me. I am double checking on the price because the initial quote was under 1500 bucks for everything including shipping. I am also needing a new rear bumper. I have several solid cores but they need straightened. Tri-city has been mentioned here so I think I will give them a jingle and see what they can do. Thanks for everything! Rick
  14. Hello All! I am looking at ordering up some wheels for my black 70. I am leaning toward 18's. For the rears I was contemplating 9.5 inch wide with about 5.5 inch backspacing and for the front I was thinking 7.5 or 8.5 inch wide with around 4.5 inch backspacing. I am looking for a black wheel that is kind of 5 spokish and mean looking. If anybody has some favorites I sure would like to see them. This is one that I came across that didn't look to bad. http://www.wheelguyz.com/shop/details.asp?prodid=505NOS&cat=94&path=3,94 I was curious if anyone has run these sizes? I plan on leaving the rear of the car at a stock height and dropping the front just slightly. Thanks in advance for any info you may have. Have a great one! Rick
