  1. Well got the rear end back in the car along with the brake lines hooked up, springs & shocks installed and then went to install the drive shaft but found out I need different u joint straps, different than what came off so I picked up a set at a local auto parts and will get back it tomorrow. Leo
  2. You will need carpet to as the bench seat don't cover enough of the trans hump I know I had to. I left the original cluster in mine I even hooked up the gear selector. Leo
  3. I agree with Dan this looks like it's from a 73-77 GM A-body. You could probably go to this site as he deals in rear ends might be able to answer your question. http://forum.jdrace.com/viewforum.php?f=16 Leo
  4. I used the aftermarket plates for one I did but had to cut a piece out to shorten them to make it work, the next time I just got some steel flat bar and round steel pipe the same as the bolt size and cut it all to fit, welded the round pipe to where the bolts go through and the flat steel on the bottom. 5. Great looking car Aaron, like that color without the vinyl top. Same color as mine inside and out. Leo
  6. Oh on my post above want to clear something up I wipe it down with lacquer thinner before I spray the adhesion promoter not after don't want to confuse anyone. I also did a dash and didn't use it and worked out good. Leo
  7. As mentioned above get it clean I used Dawn dish liquid soap and I use Transtar adhesion promoter on the hard surfaces and then wipe it down with lacquer thinner. Had good success with SEM. Leo
  8. You can get all the linkage parts and cable at The Parts Place they usually ship by post to Canada. https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com Leo
  9. Got my motor running broke in the cam all was good but had a water leak a pinhole in that foolish thing for the air conditioner that one of the heater hoses attach to was shooting water all over the place also the edelbrock gas line was leaking at the little plug that's in it, got it all fixed ran good until the alternator started mking noises so it's shut down till I get a new one.
  10. Got the motor and trans put back in the car the weekend and everything is hooked back up, all is left to do is put all the fluids in, prime the motor and get this thing started. No rush to get it on the road as we are getting snow tomorrow. Leo
  11. Pulled the motor and trans a couple of weeks ago and stripped the motor down, today installed new cam and timing gear set also replaced the rear main seal plus cleaning up a lot of the stuff on the motor. Leo
  12. My 71 has A/C but didn't have one but I put one on belong to a 82-93 Camaro/Firebird,you can still buy it new from GM and it fits pretty good. Here are a couple of pics.
  13. Finally got my rear springs put in and while under there replaced all the rubber hoses coming from the gas tank then I sprayed all the trunk area with a semi gloss black paint. It's all done for the winter now I got to wait till March to pull the motor and trans and upgrade some stuff on those. Leo
  14. Thanks Carl. Where I live it's hard to come across any of these Monte SS, Grand Nationals and even Jeep GC for those years. I did notice both of the steering boxes I got have the Z on the box.Probably they were different for certain years. The one I have installed now has that real tight feel to it and that's what I was looking for. Leo
  15. Two years ago I switched out my original steering box with a Jeep GC that I got from RockAuto. I have done this swap before from a box out of a Jeep Grand Cherokee and really liked the results. Well the one I installed this time didn't have the same tight steering feel as the other ones but still was better than the original. A couple of weeks ago I changed out all the body mounts on the monte but forgot to undue the steering linkage at the rag joint and when I put it all back down and turned the wheels I was getting a cracking noise from the steering box when I turned to the right so I think I might have done something to it when I jacked up the body. I ordered a new box again from RockAuto a Lars 1353 from a Jeep GC 93-98 same as before, it arrived this week and I installed it yesterday and when finished took it for ride and the steering feel was way tighter than the last one so all is good with it. The reason for this story is I ordered two the same steering boxes but after checking them there was a difference. I attached a couple of pictures to show the shaft that attaches to the pittman arm was further up into the steering box than the second one I got and the second one had a tighter feel like the original Jeep box. So if anyone has to order one of these 1353 Lars boxes you could get one that's probably not a Jeep GC box. The first picture is of the second box I got that has the c-clip that is flush with the box and the other is the one I took off that was making a cracking noise has the c-clip stepped into the box about an inch and had a rubber seal that fits down over the shaft and into the box. Butt he swap is worth it and not hard to do. Leo
  16. Great looking Monte like the red, great find. Looks like the kids were excited about it to. Leo
  17. Got the front lower control arm bushings changed and coils springs installed only the rear springs left. Leo
  18. Finished up the drivers side body mounts, had no trouble with the bolts all came out easy. Soon I will have all my winter projects done before it gets here. Coil springs and control arm bushings next weekend. Leo
  19. Decided today to tackle my body mount bushings, spent 3 1/2 hrs and got one side completed wasn't to bad everything came out easy. The hardest part was taking the front inner fender out and putting it back in. I reused all the original hardware as it was in great shape. Here is a pic of the bolts and they were all in this condition. I guess I will get at the other side next weekend. Leo
  20. I found 4 build sheets in my 71 Kansas built plain jane I guess if it was an SS I wouldn't have found one. Like the colour, should be fun to get it on the road. Leo
  21. If it's a Jeep GC box you will only need the inserts from Lee Mfgt and your original hoses will work. Leo
  22. Great videos Aaron, the show of Monte's was great wish I had more time to spend there. Nice meeting and having a chat with you again also meeting a couple of more members. The videos make me miss driving my Monte but I will be back home tomorrow. Leo
