    LED flasher

When I posted pictures of my hood I had mentioned that I had changed all the lights on the car to LED's. I also gad mentioned that with the low draw from the lights wasn't letting my flasher work properly. Well I think I have the solution. I got in contact with Ricard and Cova Hart "Richardsstuff.net" they sold me an "Automotive LED flasher" from Technostalgia for a measly 10 bucks and say this should fix all my LED problems. They said it shouldn't be a problem with my alternator, and it wouldn't be necessary to upgrade the amperage. We'll see... I should've just bought it when I first purchased all my LED 1157's that way I wouldn't have looked like an idiot when I was trying to think of the name of this stupid thing. "Yeah, I'm looking for a little box for my LED's to make them flash right when I use the turn signals?" answer: "You mean an LED flasher?"

    New Lights!

I by no means am computer savvy but thats where I first saw these lights. This was a few years ago, and me and my boss were stopping to get parts from the Elec/Cmptr distributor and I saw a display with some colored cathodes. First thing I thought was that would be pretty could for an engine compartment light and for an underdash courtesy light but I didn't want any weird colors. A few weeks ago I stopped at the same distributor and for some reason they had no idea what I was talking about. I guess they were getting confused because I told them I was trying to use them for an Auto application.Anyways I came home and jumped on the internet and the only ones I could find were for computers and some were really expensive. The most common had computer style hookups and I didn't want to do a conversion, I wanted a direct hookup for cars. And these are the ones I found. The transformer does all the "coverting"for you; just hook the hot and ground to your battery.(Just in case you were wondering I know very little about electrical either ) We'll see how they work in my engine bay, but on the site I found them they had some video and pictures of stuff other people had done to their cars and They had them in their engine compartment so I shouldn't have a heat issue. Most of the guys have all these crazy flashing lights and weird colors(These import, tuner guys do some odd stuff to their cars) I wanted them for functionality(is that a word?), and the white light is very bright compared to the old style underhood light we have on our cars. Don't worry, if I had a "special" Monte i would keep it original. But mine was a 350, 350; 2 barrel option car so I'm modifying it to the way I want it. Like I've said in the past I'm all about being different.

    New Lights!

Here's a couple of pics of some new lights I'm gonna try in the engine compartment, and I'm thinking about buying the 4" ones for a courtesy light inside. The pictures don't do these guys justice; these suckers are bright! Cold Cathode Kit 12" white with transformer
  4. Man I like that set up! Gotta get one. They hard to see during the day? That would probably be my only concern...
  5. I'm gonna double check in a little while but when I weighed it last night it was a WHOPPING 13 lbs! Huge difference over stock(by chance you know what the originals weigh) I knew it was light but like I said I'm gonna double check cause it feels a little heavier than that.
  6. The shipping cost me $96.00 from AAA Cooper freight company. Just make sure you check it for damage because it comes in a cheap cardboard box, beleive it or not. Oh yeah; VFN threw in a $35 "box fee" for wrapping it up. But I'm happy with it... it just took too long to get here.
  7. I planned on upgrading the alternator anyways because I want to run dual batteries in the trunk. Still trying to think of the name of the little box I saw when I bought all my LED's , I don't know but the guy said I should buy it and I should've! I by no means know alot about electrical. Honestly I'm kinda scared of it , I'm learning a little here and there but still try to get help when I need it. Oh yeah, just in case I didn't tell you, your gauge set up is one of the nicest I've seen. But I'm biased because it's a Monte! Like I said I'm weary of electrical, you think I could call or PM you if I ever ran across something weird? You seem to know alot of electrical so I was just wondering.
  8. I agree with you exactly! After I got off the FGMCC site last night I looked through the net to try to find some real HID's and man those things are super expensive! With the modifications you'd need to make just to get them to fit because of the depth of the assembly I just don't think it's worth it right now.( Besides, I don't care about blinding people that bad... )They are a much better light than the originals I've always had on the car and I think they look alot cooler too. I've upgraded to LED's everywhere else on the car too, so I do need to beef up the electrical a little... I'm trying to think of the name of the "box/amp" I need to get to boost the output to the LED's,the blinker doesn't quite work right because of the low draw. They get dim when you turn the blinkers on.
  9. Your right... their H4's but I switched the bulbs to the Silverstars. They are supposed to be as bright as a true HID, or at least that's what they say. My mistake...
  10. That's a b@d@$$ hood! It looks like my car too...
  11. Heres' the new hood I ordered from VFN fiberglass. I haven't adjusted any of the bumpers yet but it seems to fit pretty well and looks to be straight. It's a lift off 4" and this hood doesn't weigh anything! The price was decent but it took forever to get here.( You see my new headlights? HID's!) Sorry about the large pictures, how do I adjust the size again?
  12. Thanks for the info. I think I'm gonna be able to make them work.
  13. I'm trying to put in some buckets I got from a friend of mine and was wondering how wide is the factory console? I have a column shift, bench car and have yet to purchase the console and need to know where I need to bolt the seats and still clear the sides.
  14. I finally received my hood from VFN fiberglass. One of buddies from work is bringing it to me in a few minutes so I'll make sure to post some pictures. I received it this morning and at least to the naked eye it looks like its gonna fit pretty well, we'll see when I get it here! I love new parts...
  15. $94.95 w/ free shipping from LMP,inc. Part # BMR DSL007 1968-1972
  16. I still couldn't get the link to work;so I jumped on Youtube and found it. Your car looks and sounds cool
  17. I can't find the video; all the other Monte vids come up, what should I look for?
  18. Turn your volume down! I was at the Nationals in SA today, and heard a mean Monte.I took the video home and found a clip of last years Nats and this Monte sounded a little better.(So I went w/ last years video... )
  19. These are the fans I just conned my buddy out of (Hee, Hee,Hee..)I asked a couple of guys in the shout box but would like some opinions if you got any.San Antonio,Texas gets really HOT, and just wonder if I would be okay running them before the radiator since they don't quite fit under the shroud.A buddy of mine had a '71 and got rid of his shroud and all Hell broke loose.Of course that was with a stock clutch fan. http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee67/madmacs210/Monteparts002.jpg
  20. I was mistaken... If you shift in to Drive it will act like a regular automatic.Go into low and you have to run the gears like a full manual.Convenient if you still drive your MC on the street, but like to go out the Strip every once in a while.
  21. A buddy of mine put in a "Cheetah" manual valve body w/ compression braking and he loves it! I think its the valve body I'm gonna end up using in my 400.Its nice because you can run through the gears like a full manual, or drop it into low(I think) and use it just like regular automatic.
  22. I remember that episode of Horsepower. They said at top speeds the turbulence would actually start pulling fuel out of the carb.I'm gettting my pin-on cowl hood soon and I'm gonna run an isolator plate under the hood to avoid that, and my inner fenders are only about 6 months old so I'll still be using them.
  23. My Monte Carlo started her diet yesterday! So far I've gotten rid of my fuel tank(not original and was in bad shape),hood hinges and springs, original exhaust hangers, and I removed all of the a/c from the engine compartment; So a/c delete conversion here I come! Still waiting on my fiberglass hood!
  24. If you are let me know what you think. I've never used digital gauges before and before I purchase one I'd like to know if this wouldn't be a wise choice.
  25. Thank you sir, sorry about the little typo misunderstanding earlier.
