  1. Wow! That is so cool, wish I would've been able to make it... There's always next year! Thanks for the pictures Jack and Donny
  2. Thanks for the pics! Wish I could've been there... 2010 East or West is a must!
  3. Okay well I just got off the phone with my buddy and I told him you guys said he was a liar , just joking. He said he is familiar with the 425 and he also agreed that they came out of heavy trucks and motor homes. He says they are really strong but wouldn't really have a drag race application. Says there kinda hard to find too. But as far as the HD case; he tells me they come out of 4x4 vehicles only. It has HD stamped on the bell housing and some extra webbing for strength. But other wise it is identical the the regular th400. This guy builds offroad vehicles and used to do Hot Rods, so he finds all kinds of heavy duty parts to try and cut down on the trail time wrenching. (used to have a 85 MC that was a screamer) so he'll see if he can get me some pictures of HD 400's that he's built for guys in his OffRoad Club. (Midnight 4wheelers) Hopefully get some pictures soon.
  4. Talking with a friend who does my tranny work, and he asks what all am I going to end up putting in it and have I considered going with the "Heavy Duty" case. One of the reasons we got to this point was because I was telling him that I plan on overbuilding (if there is such a thing) the transmission and rearend that way in the future when I'm really putting some power down I can be ready to rock; and not have to worry about finding the weak point... at least worry as much. Now I know the best way to go is with a fully built unit from a recomended shop but I know my buddy goes good work. He says the HD 400 has a thicker case, deeper pan, and 6 bolt converter. Do you guys who run highstall aftermarket converters utilize all six bolt holes the standard three? Like I said this time around I'm not really thinking I'm going to need a highstall or anything fancy because the motors just going to have a mild cam... anyways, I'm rambling. The question I have is "Is a Heavy Duty case worth looking into or just stay with what I got and avoid the extra weight of the HD case?" Thanks for any input MAC
  5. Good times Jared! I can almost smell the burnt rice all the way down in San Antonio...

What have you been looking at Capri?!
  11. Awesome Dave! The tire rubber can be a pain in the ... to clean off the car. Try spraying the lower quarter down with Pam cooking spray, helps keep stuff off the paint. Good to help clean the mud off your tires for all you off roaders too.
  12. I tried finding some info on the web, and from what I can tell Southside Machine is nowhere to be found. I've never used these before, and the only thing I can find is installation instructions. Those of you who that have these or something similar, do you recommend them? It will see ocassional street time but in a couple of forums that came up when I did a search the were some who had mixed reactions about using ladder/lift bars. What do you guys think? I know they are great for track time which is what I'm shooting for but are they going to totally kill the comfort in the ride?
  13. Looks great Dave! Not enough money to be a drag racer? Come on... it looks like your already there!

Yeee Haaa!!! (Thats' my Rednexican side coming out) Cool, you got any idea of what you think she'll run? What Dragstrip you thinking about going to? Have fun with the car and be careful. Brrriiikikikiii!!! (Uh oh... there's the other side)
  15. I love the interior Dave, I think it looks nice when people put contrasting colors in the cab instead of just black. Not to say I don't dig black (mines slowly been changing to all black)But the white with the light interior looks really sharp! Nice trunk too. Cool pics also Royce, thanks!

That looks really nice! There's a guy with a tranny shop down the way from me that has one like that; its a DEMON! to put it nicely...
  17. I blacked mine out using flat or matte black, but I agree with Jared, it's really up to you. If your going with totally unmolested original then silver, but use whatever color you want if your cars not 100% original.

Looks awesome! I have the diecast that matches that car; good job... it looks just like it! (or does the diecast match your car exactly?)

Welcome to the site, that set up looks sweet! I don't know too much about the Kumho's; I like the tread pattern on those... almost looks like a drag radial.
  20. Some more tuning and dialing and you'll be on your way in no time Jared; Good Job!
  21. Nice! The Dakota Digital kit has been on my wish list for a while now. I've heard the electric gauges aren't as accurate as the mechanical. Do you run a rev limiter and does it coinside (sp?) with the RPM readout on the dash?
  22. Good job on the heads up info Allan. It looks I was totally wrong about the cross drilled and slotted rotors. I too always thought it was for friction and cooling purposes but it reads like it would be uneccesary under normal conditions. I'd still like a high performance disc upgrade but will definitely have to do some more research when the time comes. Thanks for clearing up some of the misconceptions I had.

  24. I really like that kit Ian. Looks good, and just like everyone else said you can't beat that price! Does he offer cross drilled or slotted rotors?
