  1. This was sent to me. Thought others might enjoy it................................ May take a minute or two to open......................... Doug 862c1b5d-2410-4ed5-bda9-981c631801f6.MOV
  2. I considered a Air Dam but would sit so low to the ground, I figured I would damage it in short order driving over a speed bump................ Doug
  3. I ended up buying an aftermarket Trunk Lid to replace original rusted Lid and it did not fit correctly. The driver side horizontal fit closest to the rear window was raised slightly and tried everything. Ended up sending it back and even the aftermarket replacement came out the same way. The original I replaced never fit that way when it was on. Wondering if possibly just a poorly designed Mold the trunk lid stamped in? Doug
  4. Pretty Darn Rare 71 SS! It's got a 4 speed manual in it. Doug
  5. Hey Jeff, Nice Find! I also own a 72 Custom & have been documenting those that are still serviceable vehicles. I do this because there are no statistics documenting those Production Numbers and I would like to know how many are left. I have a Post in this Forum under 454 SS Thread (1st one) *72 CUSTOM NUMBERS* that you can look over yourself. Mine is car #1 and there are (52) individual Cars documented. Please let me add your vehicle (if not already previously found & documented) on my spreadsheet. The VIN# is most important as I can filter it for matches on the Spreadsheet, preventing duplicates. Looking forward to this and Pic's when gotten...................... Doug
  6. 72 Custom Numbers Rev. 17 update. Entry #51 indicates a previous owner (in red lettering) in Data Base sold to current owner. All documented and feel comfortable they are Customs even though not all have a Build Sheet to confirm. Keep my posted if you come across any Customs. I try and search but can't fine em all. Appreciate All the support you guys have given me in this endeavor. Doug 1972 MONTE CRLO CUSTOM NUMBERS REV. 17.0 JPG.xls
  7. I am going to guess your unique Ground Wire was installed as the original was broken and having something to do with the cracked housing where ground wire locates. I have seen those Straps on eBAY often. Yeah, that Plastic looks Awesome. I'm gonna have to try that method. Doug
  8. I am under the impression all BB's had the TH400 from factory unless possibly requested otherwise? That car you provided me is not entirely Stock as I watched the Video. This would lead me to believe the transmission had been changed after assembly. Someone will provide clarity, I am sure on if mismatched from the factory.. Doug
  9. Got it Brent and thank you. The VIN# wasn't provided and haven't found any on my Spreadsheet that would suggest a duplicate, so will include it. I just finished documenting another that was a duplicate of a previous owner ending up with a FGMCC Member. So, in Car #51, it shows current and underneath, previous owner just to try and keep things straight as possible. Thanx for the Heads Up. Doug
  10. Appreciate the Heads Up Joe. I checked it against my Spreadsheet and is already Documented when I cross referenced the VIN# & the biggest reason for having it! I have added a couple more to the Spreadsheet but have not updated on FGMCC Site yet. There are (53) identified to date. Please continue to alert me when locating any you see or hear about, even if you suspect already documented. I will just cross reference it to ensure it isn't a duplicate. Again thanx for your observance. I have gotten several alerts from FGMCC Members along the way and instrumental in providing the best guess on their Roadable numbers. I suspect their are not many more left to identify as I am getting more duplicates these days. Take care, Doug
  11. The Trunk Lamp has a Harness wire that runs along left hand side under trunk inside ledge Rear Harness with that single wire running out and up the L/H Trunk Lid support into rear Trunk Lid and connected to Lamp Housing. I would locate/isolate that wire back to Harness connection and see if there is power to it. If yes, might be a ground issue. If not, double check connections as I suspect it is a loose connection for trunk lid. Doug
  12. Not sure you will be able to locate a NOS / OEM replacement. Aftermarket ones are sold on eBAY and you will have to check and make sure the in line fuse is included in the harness along with at least minimum length of harness to connect. It is possible to disassemble the Mercury Switch from the Housing while housing still attached to vehicle. There is a Snap Ring like retainer right behind the Housing that holds the Bulb/Mercury Switch in place. Remove Snap Ring retainer/Mercury Switch and it's plastic housing will slid back and out, allowing you to inspect/replace. If taken apart, make note of pieces during disassemble so that you can reassemble correctly, if needed. I usually have to take pic's................ I also have a 72 Monte Custom. I have been keeping a Spreadsheet on those 72 Customs still serviceable in order to get a idea of just how many are still roadable. Unlike the 70/71 SS, GM never distinguished with production numbers the difference between the Base Model Production and Custom, there is NO WAY to determine just how many were produced. That Spreadsheet is located on this Site under 454 SS thread, The 1st Article 72 Custom Numbers? has the most up to date info for the Custom and is the Thread I started. Feel free to look it over and then decide if I can ADD your Vehicle to my Database. You will see the pertinent info I included along with YOUR VIN# that helps prevent me from duplicating them by cross referencing the VIN's. If you have a Build Sheet, include a pic of it and if legible, can copy the info from it. Otherwise, you would need to copy those Options for me. Let me know if this is possible. I will say anyone can view this Spreadsheet and you can also make a copy for your own use. Only active Members can make a copy........... Doug
  13. I believe there is an In Line Fuse in between the Wiring from Bulb contact to connection on Bulk Head. I would suggest using a light tester probe under hood lite by removing bulb, with Hood up touch Light tester probe on the mercury switch and see if it lights the tester, then check in line fuse 1st. Is this a Custom Model? They came standard with the Light Group. Good luck with your project. Doug
  14. While perusing the Internet I came across an Ad offering a 72 Monte Carlo. While looking over pic's, I noticed there was no radio and was covered with a Delete Plate? Never seen one before! Was this a factory option? Doug
  15. Do a search for Cal Cover and Cover King. Both are top line Covers that you can select the one you want for that application. I have a Cover King Indoor on mine. Both are made to resist scratching/swirling................ Doug
  16. Love the color, especially in the Sun lite. Very well represented 1st Gen. & Welcome to Our Madness. Doug
  17. Latest update, Rev. 16. Please review and advise if updates needed.1972 MONTE CRLO CUSTOM NUMBERS REV. 11.0 JPG.xls
  18. I have used it on my Frame and applies well with the Frame clean. Only drawback I see is when I end up getting more on me than the vehicle . Also, POR 15 does not work well when in sunlight as the UV rays attack it. When I replaced my rear bumper, I painted the backside of the Bumper everywhere right up to the chrome and after 7/8 years, it is still as nice as when I installed it. Also, due to cost, you should purchase small cans as it goes a long long way and when done, sealing that Can back up is impossible and the contents will dry out if left sitting for to long. I've used cellophane wrapping between lid and can but once air is introduced, it's a crap shoot. So I have gotten acclimated to purchasing the pint cans and try to use it up for that application. Follow the directions and keep it off of you, it will work quite well when precautions are followed. You can even spay paint over the POR 15 (follow directions) if you've a mind to................ Doug
  19. There are several separate Bulbs behind the Instrument Cluster Gauges. Each one luminates separate from the other but work thru your Headlight Switch and also the Circuit Board Ribbon has that current needed flowing thru it. Likely in your Headlight Switch and I would start there myself (if all Instrument cluster lights are showing dead) with headlight switch on. I am assuming you have Power otherwise? Good Luck................. I'm a betting man and am sure others have their suggestions that will chime in............ Doug
  20. Thanx Dave. Will make those adjustments and thanx again for noticing. Doug
  21. Thanx for the Heads Up Anthony. I will get right on that and thanx again for noticing. Unsure why I was so far off on it, Doug
  22. 1972 MONTE CRLO CUSTOM NUMBERS REV. 11.0 JPG.xlsNew update on Custom Numbers. Gotta couple more added and is Rev. 15, dated 10/11/2020. Still incomplete info on a car or two but overall what has been identified. Please review your info and advise if needed amended. Again appreciate your willingness to offer up the info. Doug
  23. Hey Darren,

Interested in adding your 72 Custom onto my Data Base.  Any chance I can have your Vin# and if Build Sheet?  I have added the info you provided in your Post but would like to have these 2 things as well.

By the way, earlier on shortly after I started compiling this info, you gave me a heads up on a 72 Custom you knew about.  Would this be that same vehicle as I don't want to duplicate any of them, thus my r3equest for the VIN#.  I think you described that one as a Midnight Bronze, 402 TH400 car and did not have near the options of this one.

Appreciate your reply and trust you are doing as well as can be expected.  You Take Care............

    Doug

  24. Try following the wiring from the Source to their respective connections and verify. I am assuming it is a Factory Tach Dash with the Temp & Fuel gauges over/under on Dash? They worked before Engine work tells me they are not connected properly or is one heck of a coincidence. That's my take and Good Luck................. Doug
