  1. awesome. ill send a message. thanks so much everybody for your help.
  2. lol. sorry didnt mean to send you down the rabbit hole. bet you found some good stuff you forgot about though.
  3. thanks Tom i appreciate you looking. Dennis id happily take one with holes in it if Tom cant come up with anything. monte looks so neglected, just missing that one piece of trim sure changes the look.
  4. Dennis thanks so much for looking for and into those parts. i actually straightened out the long rocker piece and got it looking good. still looking for the drivers side short piece though. ill take anything you have in that department. thanks
  5. no complaints from me, im just happy to have the help.
  6. sorry about the weird photo file format, didnt realize i had done that. ive had the car for 20 years, everything is driver quality. i appreciate you looking and let me know!
  7. Long story short, driving up to a race and blew a tire which took off a piece of trim and dented the fender! lessoned learned and life happens. trying to identify and locate the missing piece of trim from my fender is proving difficult. im betting someone here can point me in the right direction. thanks.
  8. Sorry to highjack. Are you saying you didn’t use the motor mount backing plates that move the engine forward? Isn’t that the whole point? I should add I’m in the middle of a swap of a 5.3 and a th350 and I used those same trans dapt mounts but I did use the back plates and I’m finding I’m about 1/2 inch off the bolt hole for the motor mount
  9. So I’ve got my proper 31011 rag joint now and I’ve got my Cherokee steering box. The splines and flat space look a little off to me. Wanted to check here before I hammer it home. Anybody recall what there’s looked like. I’ll attach a couple pictures that hopefully get the job done. thanks in advance
  10. Awesome appreciate the help. I’m doing a 5.3 swap which prompted the steering box swap. Should make hoses that much easier. I’ll probably do a hydro boost from an Astro and rebuild the front end since everything is so accessible right now
  11. Pretty sure this goes here. As the tittle says ive got a GC steering box and im wondering if anyone with previous experience with this swap knows the part number of the rag joint they used or what it was from. Ive heard 80s trucks like a suburban works well. thanks in advance
  12. Sorry for the late reply. Ill upload pictures from my phone, hopefully they arent huge. You can see where it popped out and how i gave er the ol banana curve at the end
  13. So im doing a 5.3 swap and decided to do the cherokee steering box swap while im at it because it just makes sense. Well getting my old rag joint off proved to be quite the task and long story short my steering shaft is fubar. So question is, has anyone here ever replaced one? im having a hard time just finding a replacement. there is and endless list of aftermarket and nos replacement parts for these ol montes except for steering shafts apparently. is it called something else and im being dense or is this something ill have to scourge the junkyards for? as always, any and all help is greatly appreciated
  14. Thanks for the help everyone. Wiped a lobe so out she goes. Ls going in
  15. Thanks for advice everyone. I should've added that I pulled the valve covers and let it run and everything was moving and doing its job. I even pulled the intake to make sure I got a good a seal on the China walls. It really seems like a fuel issue. Mechanical fuel pump should be pushing enough right? What's my next step? Buy a fuel pressure gauge or rebuild the carb? Honestly I'm wondering if I shouldn't try a brawler or something on there. Don't know much about rebuilding these eddy
  16. I'm having a similar issue. Hoping I have a similar solution. Was it doing it just under load or while it was parked as well?
  17. So a while back i rebuilt my old 350 with a nice flat tappet cam, vortec heads, lifters, pushrods, ls6 springs and a new hei distributor. i reused my old edelbrock 1901 which is a remake of a 750 quadrajet that edelbrock doesnt even make anymore but has always worked excellent. i finally found the time to button everything up and try to start it for the all important break in period that a flat tappet needs. at first i had the dizzy 180 off, then when it did fire up the valve lash was too loose and not to my liking so i re-adjusted. When i re-adjusted it was too tight so it had a hard time firing. A bit more tinkering and finally i had it set perfect and got it fired up and broke in. current dilemma. motor runs and revs great in park but when i go to drive it i get stutters and it acts like its fuel starved. runs like a turd timing is solid, plugs, wires and distributor are all new. manifold vacuum looks good. heres what i figure and where i need your expertise. 1. wiped a cam lobe and its basically a boat anchor 2. losing vacuum before the modulator or its the modulator itself 3 maybe the carb is not up to snuff after being curbed for a year and a half. thanks in advance guys, sometimes i just need an outside perspective, i appreciate all your help.
  18. That's a good idea. I did a reverse image search and it came up as vw or posche seats. None of them were an exact match though so who knows. Maybe I should recover my bench
  19. I got a decent looking pair of buckets from a friend for free. Just not sure what they're out of. Maybe a dodge or a porsche? What do you all think? Either way they're better looking than the dodge neon seats I have in currently. Thanks in advance.
  20. hey guys im looking to get a tranny (dont get cute with that ) i built a nice lq4 and im just about ready to stab it in there but i want to hook up a manual trans while im at it. T56 is nice because its computer controlled but a nice tko should handle 500 lb ft of torque no problem. im just not sure which to go with and where to source parts from, getting tired of refreshing craigslist every 10 minutes. hoping that those of you running a stick could provide some input on what you like, what you're running and if you would do anything different if you had the chance to do it over again. once i get it all going im sure the open diff with 2:73's will be on its way out quick. thanks as always.
  21. might be worth it to give these guys a call. i personally dont have them but if budget is a concern then 550 for everything seems like a pretty good deal. not sure what Eaton style means but the place gets good reviews. Then you just need a housing, unfortunately its car part season and being budget minded you have to just wait for the right deal sometimes, but they do pop up. theres one on my local craigslist right now for $550 https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/wsh/pts/d/saint-paul-complete-64-chevy-posi/6917778441.html Then you just have to have the money on hand and be the first person to respond to the ad. https://www.quickperformance.com/GM-12-Bolt-Car-Posi-Gears-Bearing-Kit-Package_p_20371.html. or just accept the snowball is rolling, breakout the credit card and call speedway
  22. Glen i didnt even think to add a choke thats a great idea. As far as the fuel issue im putting in a tanks inc tank in the near future anyways maybe ill just straight feed it then. thanks
  23. why i haven't just ran a new harness by now i don't know. I put in a set of Dakota digital gauges which i love, but my speedo and fuel are having issues. My speedo is ran independently with the electronic sensor but it jumps around as it goes up like a dry cable would. I think i remember hearing if you run it too close to other wires you can get a interference issue or some sort of signal to noise ratio. to be honest this is the first step I've taken. not sure what i should do next aside from run it a different route. as for the fuel gauge its stuck on full. right off the bat i went and re did my ground for my sending unit but to no avail. i'm pretty sure our tanks should read 96 ohms when full and mines reading 192 ohms, which still sounds like a grounding issue. my fuel isn't independent its bridge tapped into the original harness right where it would meet the old cluster. as always any ideas are greatly appreciated, this place is gold for info.
  24. if youre looking for some http://www.alangrovecomponents.com/index.htm is an awesome place. they have brackets to work with any kind of configuration, best quality ive found so far. really cool guys to work with on the phone
