  1. What are you guys using for aftermarket headlights / bulbs / etc that look stock, but offer a drastic improvement in light output. There’s a lot of stuff out there, but I don’t want to waste my time/money on garbage. thanks!

just wondering, could i be entered in for the shortest distance award???? 32.4 miles but seriously, congrats to everyone. you all definitely have put in some wrench time on your cars. hats off.
  3. i defintiely enjoyed the norwalk meet!! (also my first super chevy meet, btw). got to have some good conversations with some good people and got to see some really nice cars (1st gens especially). i wish i could've been there for the entire meet, sounds like the whole weekend was a blast for you guys! looking forward to the next meet. maybe my car will be at least driveable in time for next year's. p.s. did anyone else get any sunburn??
  4. i'd try swapping your old keyboard back in to see if its a hardware issue than a software issue. if things return back to normal after you put the old one back in, then you know what the problem is. but the more i think about it; if the logitech board is usb, and doesn't plug into your regular keyboard outlet (i can't remember the technical title for it), i wouldn't be surprised to see if there's a bit of a delay/lag time when using the usb keyboard. its just the nature of the beast. on a similar note, i use a usb mouse for my lappy, and sometimes there's a bit of intermittent deadspots with it. i just kinda got used to it over the years. hope that helps!
  5. hey guys, i'm in the midst of doing the frame off on my monte, and was wondering if anyone might have a diagram that included the measurments of the distances of the body mount locations on the frame? i'm looking for something like this to basically doublecheck the frame's straightness (if there ever is such a thing, hahahaha). thanks! -dan
  6. thanks for the info guys! this thread sure did come to life this weekend. for me, i was more interested in the stiffening of the chassis with the cage. the added safety was more of a bonus. those links were helpful as well.
  7. sounds nice and all, but presently southern cali is a bit out of range for me. but i guess mainly i was wondering if there were any decent kits out there that didn't require too much welding (not my forte). something that could be bolted in without too much hassel.
  8. like chevyss, i also feel the kits that i've seen between jegs and summit seem to be sub-par. would there be a better chance at finding something better if i searched more in the area of "GM A-body" or "chevelle"??? for my project, i'd also like to include a roll cage, but want something decent. ps. sorry for the slight hijack - just thinking out loud here. pps. chevyss, show us pics when its all said and done!!!
  9. thing is; when it's running, it runs well. but it was when it stalls out and doesn't want to start back up again. the more i think about it, it seems like it's more willing to start up like normal when its cooled off for a bit. only when it stalls out like this, its a pain to start back up again. *scratches head*
  10. any ballpark figures on a rebuild??
  11. i was a afraid of that. sucks too - have a full tank of gas in there too!. lol.
  12. hey guys! for as long as i've had my monte, it's never really liked reverse. it'll shift in no problem, but when you give it gas the car will shudder and slowly build up speed. ..this was never a big deal to me, because how often do you need reverse, right? anyway, today i went out to run a few errands and when i got on the highway to get home i opened her up.. i let off the gas (around 25mph) and punched it. it downshifted to 1st, and hesitated shifting into 2nd. while it was hesitating, the car was doing that similar shuddering as it does in reverse. i had to let off the gas pedal for it to upshift. and after that, from a dead stop it seems like it'll always start from 2nd gear. the car will shudder and build speed slowly and sometimes shift into 3rd. my trans is on its way out, isn't it? i checked the fluid level - it was low - i added what it needed and still no improvement. oh, and the bugger stalled on me a few times whilst in traffic and took a lil longer than 10-15 mins of sitting and cranking and pumping on the gas pedal to get it to start up again. once it got started, it seems to run okay. i pulled the air cleaner off and the carb is putting fuel into the t-body. so could it be the fuel pump?? i'm a F.I. guy, so please forgive me. i don't think these two problems could be related, but its rather strange they both happened in the same afternoon a few minutes apart from eachother. i needs input! please!!!! thanks. -dan
