There's always room for one more.😁

Here are some pictures of the rear wheel housing. I bought new housings, but only used what I needed.

I am lucky, I have very understanding neighbors. But I agree, to them it belongs in a junk yard. We see the finished product.

Hello fellow Ohioan. I am in Dublin just north of Columbus. Nice looking Monte. I love the two-tone treatment. I bet it is a ton of fun. Dan

Looks like it was a good time. Nice looking group of cars! -
Here are a few pictures on the inner roof structure repair. As I said, the vinyl top did a number on the roof as far as rust goes. One of the previous owners must have owned stock in silicone caulk because it was everywhere. The driver's side was not nearly as bad. I had to replace the rain gutter on the passenger side. I was able to make it from two Chevelle rain gutters. I also bought a hole punch and flare tool to make the holes in the inner structure correctly.

I know that we're never on Monte's. I was saying the owners clearly put 396 emblems on it.

Those "396" emblems are the same ones on my 69 Chevelle SS. They used them in 1970 as well.

Unfortunately, the sand and dust found its way into everything. The trunk drop downs, lower quarters and lower fenders had rust issues from moisture. The roof and upper quarters had rust damage from the vinyl top. The interior and trunk floors are nearly spotless. I live in central Ohio, so it is "almost" rust free to me too. Original colors are Champaign gold with gold vinyl top and saddle bucket interior.

When I was 16, I was showing one of my cars at a show in Springfield Ohio. Next to my car was a Shadow Gray 1970 SS Monte Carlo. I thought it was one of the coolest cars I had ever seen. I put it on my list of cars I would own. Fast forward 30 years and I found this 1970 SS 454 in late 2015 in Phoenix, AZ and purchased it. It was built in Van Nuys in December 1969 and sold new from Welch Brother’s Chevrolet in Texas City, TX near Houston. Welch Brother’s was dissolved in December 1988. At some point in its life, it ended up in southern California. You would be amazed at the amount of sand I found in the car. About a year ago the Monte was next in queue and I started the restoration. I will post more pictures as I go, but here are some pictures of the car as I received it.

Just stumbled across this thread. Great looking car Dennis. I am in the process of restoring a similar 70 SS454. Like yours, it is Champaign gold with saddle interior. Mine has a gold vinyl top rather than black. Glad to see you are saving it and not parting it out. Dan

Does anyone have an original halo type vinyl top and can tell me the distance between the seam. Both on the roof and below the rear window. I threw mine away 🙄 and have to have one made. Mine is dark gold, which I have been able to source the correct vinyl. I just want to make sure they sew it correctly. Thanks

Thanks everyone for the replies. This is exactly what I was looking for. Dan

A few questions about the bumper jack for 1970 Monte Carlo. What is the length of the shaft. I have seen some places it say it is longer than a Chevelle and other places saying it is the same. Also, does anyone know what style was used for Los Angeles plant? Was it the solid "T"/"Y" type, or the hollow shaft style? Thanks
