  1. Hey guys, suprised to see more hits on this subject, been busy. There is no tach in my car. When I got it there was no vinyl roof, just the top painted white and there was spots where the trim looks like it was riveted on, but no rivits or screws remain. My neighbors 70 has the same look and his was originally green top and bottom, but looks like it had a vinyl roof. I was able to get the build sheet, but it is a jigsaw puzzle and most of it is missing. I can see where it says special customer order and 4 speed, but cannot find anything about the engine.
  2. So I have the build sheet now, no doubt it is a 4 speed bench seat, but the engine is still a mystery. The build sheet is a puzzle and most of it is gone. I am going to do a frame off resto on this one and sell the bucket seat 70 that I have to help fund the project.
  3. So I have a good question now, should I look for a 402 that is more date correct, or build a LS-4 454 that I have that has a production date closer to the year of the car?
  4. Been moving the boss from one warehouse to a new shop. Get set up, and see what comes up. This car was in the area and turned up through the grapevine, we have the build sheet now, but it is a jigsaw puzzle and hard to read. I will keep you posted, the move has taken up 4 12 hour plus days so no car progress yet. Got the boss's 67 SS396 in the garage now for new bearings in the rear end first, the the 71 will be a winter project.
  5. I have most of the cowl tag decoded, some I have not figured out. Here is what I have now st 71 13857 L 15837 tr 728 26 26 058 79062 140447 all but the bottom line I have figured out
  6. I love old muscle cars. Just happy I found a real jem. My neighbor bought a 71 Roadrunner like 10 years ago-found out it had the same production date as his birthday-if the Monte I bought has the same coincedence as that that would be too cool!
  7. Currently I am living a dream. I sold my business(Matco Tools) in May-started repairing muscle cars with a few contacts,my experience, and few friends, it has spun into a good business.
  8. The 67 Nova, 71 Monte and the Suburban are mine, the 67 SS 396 is a customers car. I have a problem, like they say the first step is admitting you have a problem-I love cars. So right now I have 5 of my own and there are usually 4 customer cars here.
  9. Sorry, found the unlock button. See how that works.

  11. anything other than photobucket-got issues with that site.
  12. On the blue vinyl roof- is that why my paint code is 26 26?
  13. My vin is 138571L166211 the trans is part # 3925661, with vin stamping 1l166211-date code p1028a-I dont know trans date code yet, hoping the car was built on my birthday if I find it-that would be too cool. I think I located the build sheet-the last owner said he thinks he has it in a file and will look this weekend-no sleep till then. He never did anything with the car, said he bought it cause he liked first gen, but never got around to it. The rear end has the code 3969278n, it is a 12 bolt and has some high gear-like a 4.11 I think. With as much grunt as this thing has a 3.55 would probably be better, but I think I am going to start my frame off resto.
