  1. Good Morning: I want to thank Tony, Sam, Craig and Cbolt for your replies. I have talked to several transmission shops and not one of them had any idea why it is doing what it is doing. I did enjoy the video it explained a lot of the operation. thank you. Well it looks like I am going to be installing a new transmission soon, Mine is starting to slip in third gear now. So maybe a new rebuilt transmission will solve the problem. If not I will continue to search for the problem. Now starts the fun of shopping for a new rebuilt 200r4 transmission with a shift kit without paying an arm and leg for haha. Thank you everyone, I love the help you always supply here. Bob
  2. Hi Everyone: I posted this a few years ago and still have not found anyone that can answer my question as to how to repair this. I installed a 200R4 transmission in my 1970 350 Monte. Everything fits fine and I have driven it for about 5 years now. But to this day the speedometer does not work. Now here is the weird part, if while driving I shift the car into neutral the speedometer works like it should. It even reads the correct speed I am doing according to the GPS. But when I shift back into drive or any gear it stops working. I have checked the gears and the speedometer cable and all seems good. So has anyone ever heard of this happening and do you know how to correct it. I have asked every transmission person I can find and all the transmission people at all the swap meets all over the area. And no one seems to have an idea or ever even heard of such a thing. Thanking you in advance, Bob
  3. I just received my new rebuilt 350 from O'Reilly auto parts. I got a complete long block with all new parts and a 3 year warranty for $1,300. I could not rebuild it myself for that much. My motor has over 500,000 miles on it so it was do to be replaced. Now to find time to install it hahaha
  4. Thank you Darren: That is great to know. I carry a list of items I am shopping for at swap meets and it is great to have the correct part number for the steering wheel. I am trying to keep my car as stock as possible so do not want to change to a different steering wheel. Thank you so much for your input. it is appreciated. Bob
  5. Our we sure that OER 3939731 is really a stock steering wheel for a 1970 Monte. I searched the web for that number and other than the e-bay add above no where on the internet does it say that it fits a Monte Carlo. All the sites say Chevelle, Nova and Camero but none say Monte Carlo.
  6. Hi everyone; I was going to post pictures but you supplied some good ones. Yes Aaron that is the one I have minus the center horn button. I did find out they will not interchange as the hub is smaller and the horn center is about an inch longer on the 1970. Darn I thought I had a good one, no cracks and could be repainted and installed. I washed it and used a little SOS pad on it, to get the heavy crud off of it. Some of the black paint came off and it looks like the green that was on the Chevelle I am not sure if Monte had a green that color. But the number says it fits Chevelle, Nova Thanks everyone, Bob
  7. I picked up a steering wheel at a swap meet today. I know it is a Chevy but can not find out if it is for a 1970 Monte or what it fits, the seller said it was off a Monte but he did not know the year. The number on it is 9754887 11. If it is not Monte will the Monte center piece work with it. Thank you Bob
  8. OK good to know that there is no heater element in the unit. Now I know mine is working like it should. Thank you everyone
  9. I have a question. I have never needed to use it so do not know how it is suppose to work. Does it just blow air or does it also heat. I turned mine on and it does not get warm, it just blows air. Is that how they are suppose to work or is the heater part broken.
  10. Thank you everyone. I was not aware of the advance search. I would just click the search box and type in what I was searching for. I will correct that from now on.
  11. Thank you Rock: I don't know how you guys can find this stuff so easy when I can never find them. Thank you
  12. Hi everyone: Every time there is something I know has been shown on this site, I go to search and type in what it is I am looking for but to date I have never been able to find a single item yet. This time I know there is a discription of how to remove the dash. But I can not find it in search. I am trying to find out how much I need to remove to replace the clock with a tach and to replace the lights with LED's. There are about 3 lights I can not get to even if I drop my steering column. So I need to pull the dash. Can anyone tell me where this discription is on pulling the dash. Thank you, Bob
  13. Thanks guys, I have not heard of anyone with a good solution either. No one seems to be happy with anything that is on the market.I guess I will have to repaint the front end every few years. Now there is a product that someone needs to invent.
  14. Since my Monte got wrecked last month and I am getting the dent repaired. I am also having all the paint repaired around the car. The present paint job is only 3 years old but I have a lot of rock chips in the front end. (its a daily driver) My question is has anyone used any product that will stop or cut down on rock chips on the front of the car. And do you like the product and would you use it again. Bob
  15. Thank you Murphy I should have read the directions instead of taking the mechanics word for it. LOL Have a great weekend and thank you for the help. Bob
