  1. For those joining the western meet cruise on Friday -- here is the route we are planning on: https://goo.gl/maps/Srf2dt648yr The Drive will begin at 10am, and be about 2.5 hours in length (70-80 miles). There will be a few stops to break up the trip. We will have a picnic lunch toward the end at Marchesi Vineyards (we have a private area) NOTE: Many of us are heading to the beach after the drive! If you want to stick around for personal-planned actives / beach-time after... be sure to bring the correct attire. It is a great location... and water temp of the Columbia should be excellent in August. DETAILED ROUTE INFO ---------------------------- This is a very special route, as part of it will be traveling on Columbia River Highway 30 NOTE: This road is historically important, as it is one of the very first paved roads in North America developed around 1914. It was engineered by Samuel Hill -- who was a pioneer in developing surface-paving substrates now used on roads all over the world. We will be traversing through the famous Rowena Curves - a road that has been featured in car commercials all over the world, as it has several sweeping turns and switchbacks. After the curves, we will stop for photos of our cars at Hood River Port Marina Park- which overlooks the Columbia River. From there, we'll drive through fruit Orchards, and climb a gradual incline to about 4,000 vertical feet up the Mount Hood Highway. (We won't be driving all the way to the summit, only part way up) We'll then head back down through some sweeping mountain roads to historic Parkdale, OR for a fantastic view of the mountain from the town (photo op). After this - the final destination will be Marchesi Vineyards , where we will have a picnic lunch From here - you are on your own. As stated above - some of us are heading to the beach (if its not too windy), or head back to the Dalles (20 minutes on I-84 E), or stop by the tourism office and get info on touring the town / shopping / ice cream / wineries / breweries etc. Hood River is an amazing place, and I'm excited to share my town with everyone!!!
  2. I don’t want to be a pain - but I noticed this forum is publicly searchable (Google and such) and this personal info / email / etc is exposed to the world... and I try to keep that at a minimum for identity issues / and to prevent SPAM and Phishing Can we move this to a online form people can fill it and submit? I’ll create it and post a link if this is an acceptable alternative.
  3. BOOK YOUR ROOMS IF YOU HAVENT DONE SO!!!!! I checked in on the reservation status today - and the number of rooms reserved for FGMCC don’t match the number of people saying they are attending... This means many have not booked a room. I have to release the non-booked rooms back very soon (a little over a week)... and I will not be able to guarantee a room or the group rate is available for those that miss the deadline. This hotel will sell out for this show. BOOK YOUR ROOM
  4. Or... the club event can just be that day, and oh well if people stick around
  5. Here are the three things I find most important at car shows with such a great group of friends like you guys: 1) is there anything else to do besides look at cars? 2) is there anything else to do besides look at cars? 3) is there anything else to do besides look at cars? For me the COMPANY is most important - a car show is just a car show... I really and truly enjoy being able to relax, and have fun spending time with my extended family — which is all of you guys in the FGMCC. So I like all the stuff we do outside of the show more than the show itself. These events are like a family reunion for me. The laughs, the chair racing, the food and fun! I especially enjoy the extracurricular activities. The drives, wine tours, ice cream stops, random acts of Chinese food and pizza. Beer pong in the pool... Burnouts... watching Canadian rap videos about goin’ for a rrriiiipppp! So, for those reasons - I like the idea of Penticton every other year. It is a solid show, and a known environment with things for everyone to do... even if it’s just looking at cars Now - for other non-Penticton shows, why does it have to be a 2 day or 3 day show?? I think it’d be interesting to stop limiting choices and plan around 1 day shows... or 2 day shows. I wouldn’t mind spending less time stuck in a car corral — and more time out and about reaching a destination... or just hanging out at a hotel pool all day, making our own car show. Doing a 1 day show and taking over an entire hotel for 3 days and touring would be a blast.
  6. I’ve been planning the driving route for the tour... so far I’ve planned from my garage to the kitchen fridge. Thankfully there is beer in the fridge, so many will like the route.
  7. Don’t watch it!! The guy interviewing is full of baloney!
  8. So, this will be a great time. As the local member living near the Dalles I've already begun to plan for the fun, and hope to be able to assist in any way needed.
  9. I'm ready! To prep for the trip to another country I've been practicing saying some of the weird words you guys use a lot up there that are not part of the American dialect... namely: "Thanks" and "Sorry". I believe those must be official words of the Canadian language that roughly mean the same as "I need a beer" and "I'm out of beer"...
  10. I'm all registered for both hotel and the show!!!
  11. Well, I'm at a decision point... as it turns out my oil symptoms are due to the block being decked and overbore'd a few too many times in its life, and nothing will ever seal right unless I go full custom heads / manifolds. So the original numbers matched engine will get put to rest, and I might as well finish my "pro touring" setup the right way. ... and with that being said, my car is getting its 3rd engine swap in 5 years. Nothing like spending $$ multiple times. At least I recovered part of the spend when I sold the 383 build i had in there for a while. So really, it's just the original engine that's been giving me the Oiling issues. I'll have a nicely built 700r4 transmission with only about 800 miles on it available after this if anyone is interested. If I am doing the LS swap, I'm going full electronic and getting the mated trans as well.
  12. So, there is a lot of chatter about Chevy's "Connect and Cruise" component package for easy Engine / Trans swap in muscle cars. Seems a lot of Chevelle's are undergoing the process. Issue is - I can't fand anyone anywhere showing end to end details of this. Especially in terms of hours, mounting brackets, etc. Anyone know what to expect? With and LS3 Engine + Trans combo, complete electronics kit, + Warranty all for about $10k (after rebate)... this is tempting. http://www.chevrolet.com/performance/connect-cruise-powertrain-systems.html?&ppc=GOOGLE_700000001310127_71700000013666710_58700001097361421_p9939804917&gclid=CKj2t-yB0MsCFYjhfgod1cgAJA&gclsrc=ds
  13. This will be another great event!!!
  14. LOL!! I personally look forward to "storytime with Tim" every year. Thank you for the wonderful laughs - that bend story had us all laughing so hard we were in tears.
