Back then, the spare was included when the tires were rotated. I don't remember the procedure for doing that.

Way out question, any trailer hitch / wiring on this car now or ever? Bad light bulb or defective / rusted / dirty socket? Bad ground? (My 71 the T/S blinks slightly faster left than right) I bought some new light bulbs years ago and they were slightly smaller in diameter so they didn't ground very well all the time. After 50+ years anything could have been changed, so there is that also........ Good luck.

I was at the UTICA, MICHIGAN car show today and found one first gen Monte, a 71, that I don't think I ever saw before. VERY nice low milage. I talked to the owner and looked the car over. It's very very nice stock 71 Monte 350 2BBL with A/C. I didn't take my Monte today because of rain.

Mike, I was a mechanic then a service advisor at Russ milne Ford in Mt. Clemens Mi from 1972 till 1981. I left them for a service advisor job a Vyletel Buick in Sterling Hts, Mi. for 1 year. Good times! (Milne Ford didn't like it when I parked my 71 Monte where customers could see it!) 😁

Just thought of this, bench seat vs bucket seats used a different female buckle, when I ordered them from Morris, I ordered both so if I ever instal the buckets I have in my basement, I can switch to the shorter belt. (never going to happen..............)

Probably nothing new here. I ordered the deluxe seat belts for my 71 NON SS from Canada. I remember when I replaced the ft seat belts with the 3 point seat belt kits from Morris, there was an option of the small metal buckles or large plastic buckles. I paid more for the small metal ones. Here is the build info I ordered from Canada years ago.

Looking good! Thanks, now I feel like I need to look at mine. I replaced the spark plug wires in 2009 but no record if I did plugs. That was 16,600 Miles ago.

Just think, when I was driving my new Monte home on it's first day, I never would have thought of something like this! This year: 2023 Year of my Monte: 1971 Age of my Monte: 52 Year of my Monte: 1971 Less it's age: 52 52 year old car in 1971 was built in 1919!

I remember having trouble with a nut but don't remember how I tightened it. Mine was metric.

Joe, Yes, what was the vert. donor car, Chevelle, Cutlass, etc.

What about convertible? What was the doner roof from?

Got me thinking about when I discovered There was a vacuum leak in the diaphragm that controls the ability for the emission system to suck out the gas fumes. This leak also caused some rough idle and that is how I found this problem. It's been so long I think my solution was to replace the entire canister and it does look a bit different. This is for my 71 350 4BBL with everything hooked up (gas tank related). The TCS system was removed in the summer of 71. 😲 Pictures are of the original canister and it's parts and I still have it.
