That is what I first thought of Bruce but after pulling the balancer off there is no groove. On the axle I had to do the same on one of my cars several years ago
-
I had not thought of that Thanks Joe

Is it normal for oil to run out the end of the crankshaft when I remove the harmonic balancer bolt. I've had an oil leak on the front of my 350 so while I am working on replacing the heads thought I would do some clean up and when I took out the balancer bolt oil poured out of the hole

I think NAPA's part number for their Gold Filter is 1060 and NAPA gold filter are/were made by Wix

I just switched over to NGK UR4 from R45TS AC Delco's the NGK seem to run better for my application 350 bored 20 over roller cam and rockers. The NGK give me a more clearance on my headers also as they are shorter about the tip where the wire snaps on. I was fouling the AC in about 300 miles and got over 600 before the NGK's fouled. Hopefully that problem is now fixed as I replaced my heads but have not got it totally reassembled.

Headlight extension lower trim piece?
Leghome replied to 1Bad454's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
Oh I know the date one week after my birthday which I do NOT celebrate and do not publish either date for our birthdays that are 3 1/2 weeks apart at her request -
when removing the oil pan I do the same process but after raising the engine I put a block between the block and the motor mount on each side

Headlight extension lower trim piece?

Got you beat on that one Aaron we will have our 52nd anniversary sometime in May -
i was told by a local mechanic never use the harmonic balancer to lift the engine as that can damage the balancer. I have always used a big block of wood under the oil pan with a floor jack. I have never had a problem but did crack my distributor cap once, now I remove the cap from the distributor before raising the motor

Jegs did not have the pushrods in stock Summit did but decided against a four hour drive for $100 worth of parts so they are being shipped
-
Jamey came up today and we have gotten the pushrods figured out that they need to be 7.266" long which means the Comp Cams 7609-16 are going to work. I did take our adjustable pushrod into my local guru and he measured and he got a 7.275 on his caliper and recommended I go with the above. So a trip to Jegs or Summit is probably in the works for tomrrow
-
Talked to our best local engine guru this week and he looked in his records and my application will most likely need 7.300 pushrods but he also highly recommended doing a little testing with an adjustable push rod. My son in-law Jamey will be here tomorrow and I should know what I need very soon. He is bringing an adjustable rod

It could also be a bad Ignition switch. Years ago we had Rick Eickenfels come to Hiawassee GA meet and his switch failed. It would start and when he let off of the key it died. A couple of the copper contacts had fallen over or worn and it did not make contact with the run terminals in the switch. I disassembled the switch and showed him what happened. T he reason I know this was I built those switches for a few years.
