  1. t my endoscope today and played with it a little so the pix aren't the greatest but you gotta start some wheres. Looks to be some rubbish around the one valve and on top of the piston. I need to play some more to get better quality photos but that wire is pretty stiff and I need to figure out how to maneuver it. After looking at the enlarged image I don't think that is the top of the piston

    Funny

When I worked at a Standard station in high school in 1966 and gas was 32.9 for regular and 36.9 for ethyl and when the gas wars hit it would drop to 28.0 and 32.9 and it seemed like the wars started every other month or so

    Weather

All I have left is a very small pile that I created when I did the porch and sidewalk out front
  4. I really do not know if they did. I had the same problem before the rebuild oil consumption and that is the reason for the rebuild along with putting in the roller rockers and lifters that I do not know

    Fuses

Thank you Joe. I had stopped at my local NAPA and they could not find any so now I will go back and give them the number. Me thinks you are an encyclopedia of auto knowledge

    Fuses

I still have not found a super short 4 amp fuse. Any suggestions
  9. 8000 miles since the rebuild with roller lifters and rockers

    Anniversary

Happy belated Anniversary. Glendia will celebrate 52 yrs in May. Me I celebrate nothing
  11. I an old timer tell one time that that hole was for lubricanting the shaft

    Fuses

I had it plugged into the cigarette lighter. There are not many fuses that will fit in that slot because it is s short

    Fuses

I blew a fuse trying out my n electric hydraulic jack. On trying to get the fuse out I broke two of them. Man them things are in there tightly. I found one of the fuses easily but the other not found as of yet. It is on the lower left of the fuse block and is very short. No markings on the broken fuse but the block is show a 4 amp fuse and no parts store have any locally. Can the 4 amp be replaced with anything larger. I think it said dash lights but that is unreadable.
  14. I got my new hinges and springs from our great friend Leo Konnik up inSt Claire MI. In fact he was going to INDY for a big show and dropped a load of parts off on his way thru. I only live 3 1/2 miles from exit 226 on I 69
  15. Ahh I never looked in that part. Well there is one there was an adapter on that end of the hose.
  16. Joe this gauge also has the valve on the side to relieve the pressure no shearer valve on this one
  17. My compression was lower but all cylinders were within 5 lbs . I did not do a leak down test but did leave the compression gauge on number seven(the worst fouler) for a couple of days and it still had a lot of pressure built up that when I broke the connection between the gauge and hose it about blew the gauge out of my hand I am ordering a bore scope to take a look inside before I tear it apart that way my mechanic (son In-law) and I will have one. Never thought about maybe the intake gasket may be leaking, that is one reason I had it rebuilt when I did because It was consuming oil and assumed the engine guy would have looked everything over when he had it apart. After getting the bore scope and looking inside the cylinders will start disassembly if needed and check that out and that may be all I need is an intake or just gaskets Thanks Joe for the info
  18. I have posted about this somewhere on this forum or something similar but cannot find it so here goes again. My 72 SMB 350 has been bored 20 over with a roller can and lifters. No 2 and 7 plugs have been fouling horribly. Switched from AC R45TS to NGK UR4 6630. They still fouled but not as bad and have not affected my O2 sensor for my Holley Sniper like the AC's did. Talking to a friend today that followed me home form one of the last car shows of the season and he told me every time I accelerated from a stop it would smoke but clear up pretty quickly. He said to him it looked like a ring problem. What do our engine guru's here think? Looking for solutions that does not require and engine removal if possible
  19. Not an eye catcher for sure looks like a plain jane to me but I know NUTHING as SGT Shultz would say
  20. Nope but does get all contaminants off so the new color will stay on
  21. When I redid my 72 10 years ago wished I had put that color interior in my car or may be the lighter tan. Hind sight can be 20/20 sometimes
  22. You could also rib a strip off of your handkerchief and tie it around your finger/arm or calf voice of experience. When I severed q tendon in my thumb several years ago with blood spouting like a geyser a dusty and chip filled paper towel worked just fine. When I got to the ER the nurse looked at that said wee need to clean that out.
