    dents

DITTO. Although I did buy and framing nailer there 10 yrs ago and it is still going strong. Granted it is not used every day but when used it is used hard and a lot. I do keep it oiled when using it though.
  5. If there is only 1/4" difference that is pretty good. I have seen cars off as much as 3/4".
  6. could be the bendex is not putting the gear into the flywheel/flexplate.
  7. The less dirt/orange peel the finer the sandpaper
  8. I do not have any answer for your questions. My 72 came with an HEI but it has an MSD box so the only thing in my HEI is the rotor, big coil on top and the pickup coil in the bottom. It works good but thought about eliminating the MSD box and going with a total electronic MSD ignition that my son in-law has.
  9. Wizards, Mequiers and 3M all make a couple of good rubbing compounds. According to how smooth the finish is after sanding with 1500 or what ever you use depends a lot on how much of a cut you need from your compound.
  10. Took the 72 out for a spin of about 20 miles. Just cruising some local neighborhoods and a little bit of Hi way speed just to blow out the cob webs. Sure do sound good just idling thru the neighbor hoods and then stand on it on the hi way. Got a lot of thumbs up and waves along the way.
  11. Yes 2000 up 3000 is used according to how much dirt/orange peel is in the clear. The more dirt/orange peel the rougher the paper used.
  12. Don't say that to loud or he will get the big head. LOL LOL
  13. Back in the day we wet sanded with 400 and then painted. The 400 gave the paint a few grooves to stick to. After the paint dried we would wet sand with 600 before rubbing it out or putting clear on it. The only things that got clear were the more expensive jobs because you spry on two or three coats of clear and sand it again and then more clear. I had always heard about cars getting 20 to 30 coats of clear but realized that they never ended up with that much clear because you sanded between every tow to three cats to get a super smooth finish and deep shine.
  14. No matter how many ducks you get in a row there are going to be missteps and problems but working them out now leaves the later ones to be small ones.
  15. I bought a Forest Green Monte on Sept 20th 1969 two days after they were released
  16. The Dupont paint store I work at has those little plastic things for the small square hole. AuVeCo is the company name on the bags and we sell the for $3.59 and the number varies for the different parts. Big bolts only have two or three and some of the small parts have 10 pcs per pack.
  17. I mixed up some Nassau Blue in Dupont Chromabase a few weeks ago for a guy restoring a 68 vette. Very pretty color if you like blue my preference os RED. LOL LOL

    Starter

There were shims on my old starter but on my replacement I did not use any and I have had no problems. I think the aftermarket folks take a little more care than OEM did. One they are not making nearly as many and the techniques have improved tremendously for bygone eras.
  20. sumthing is crossed some wheres me thinks but have no idea what. I have never had that happen to me YET.
  21. My 3:73's witht he 700R4 is only running about 2750RPM's at 72MPH
  22. yes just below where the twp wire plug is
  23. On my 72 when I just looked in where the flat/ black kinda square plug with two wires I saw a white base where the terminals are sitting and when I used to rebuild the old Alts. that was the color of the internal regulator.
