  1. If the transmission was not giving you any signs like slipping or any other weird things I would start at the linkage hopefully the clip fell off or something simple like that. I would also find a new mechanic one that doesn't use the terms "it does not click". Good luck.

  2. The cars I have outside I do start periodically over the winter if we get warmer days ,the higher hp cars we have I will crank the engine without starting them just to keep everything oiled and valvetrain moving.

  3. I was at Carlisle last year with no car and had a great time. It did rain and had to wipe down my Brother's car 100+times but was well worth putting faces to the names on the site, great group of people.

  4. FW is the correct code for 71. The car should have came with the same wheel for a spare 15x7 rally. If I remember correctly The XY code were used in 1970 if your SS was ordered with hub caps they were a standard black rim. The only wheel in 71 for an SS was the rally wheel.

  5. I actually tried to find an answer to your question and ended up going down a rabbit hole so try and stay with my nutty answer. So in the Julian calendar the number 549 actually stands for a common year. A common year is a year that starts on a Friday. Now to make a long story short it turns out that 1971 was a common year and the first of the current era. So maybe the person who stamped your trans was as nutty as me or......they just used the wrong stamp. Now I need a nap I used up all my brain cells.
