  1. Saturday My son, Alex, and I pulled the 402 and TH400 out so we can get started rebuilding the engine. When I rebuilt the engine in 1988 I just honed it and put oversize rings and fresh bearings in it so it is due for a serious rebuild. The TH400 is fresh and only has about 10 miles on it and is built to take a beating. I think we are going to punch the 402 out to 454, put some aluminum heads on it, serpintine belt setup. Gonna clean up the engine bay and frame next time we work on it.
  2. Me likey!!! Nothing like a BB chevy. Why stop there may as well collect every year from the 2nd Generation too. LOL Nice car! I would be hard pressed to get rid of the '72, but then I am a car hoarder. Hi, my name is Mark and I am a car hoarder...........
  3. Chip is "the man". I loved the old show and have missed the new episodes. I remember when they did that car and thought how much I wish they were doing mine. Hard to believe some people have no respect for the efforts and love that went into fixing that car. Glad you saved it. It is gorgeous!
  4. If you're not going for a 100 point concourse car then use what you like best. My car will have steel when it is finished because the plastic don't hold up to time. On a resto mod like my car I don't care if it's not original to the car. Do what makes you happy.
  5. I wanted to say how disappointed I was that I didn't make it to the event. We found a brake line leaking (badly) on the GTO and couldn't get parts quick enough to make the drive down to SC. At least we didn't find the problem on the side of Intersate 85 an hour into the drive, or worse, crashed into the back of a semi truck. Another time. Maybe the first cruise-in of the season? I was really looking forward to meeting some of you in person and getting to know you while enjoying our hobby.
  6. What a cool story. I hope my kids will feel the same way about the 1970 Monte Carlo, 1965 GTO and 1986 Grand Prix when they are older. My dad once told me "never fall in love with a car, son". He just never understood and still doesn't get what it is to be car crazy. Enjoy that car. It is a member of the family.
  7. Chips and/or a dessert sound easy to me. I will be bringing my 10 year old and 16 year old boys with me. Looks like the wife has something else going on that day.
  8. Thanks, still have your number from talking to you about the fender. I am hoping to bring my wife and two boys with me. I'll call you for your address later.
  9. What time is everyone meeting at your place? The GTO is running......boy is it running. The Monte.....not so much.
  10. Pretty cool stuff you have done to put that car together. Good job. I am in the middle of doing my 70 and look forward to having it rolling again like yours.
  11. The Monte won't be done anytime soon but the GTO should be back together. It looks like my off weekend will fall on that day too. I'd like to join you if you don't mind an old Pontiac in the mix. LOL
  12. Prayers from North Carolina for a speedy recovery.
