  1. I think Rock Auto sells rebuilt and new power steering pumps. Good luck!!
  2. Hey Tom, Thanks for the quick reply. Does that come in a quart can or aerosol can? Do you happen to have a part number of what you used? I see a couple of Eastwood options for paint. Thanks!! Mike
  3. I would like to repaint my firewall and radiator support to look like factory color and gloss. What do you recommend? Thanks!! Mike
  4. If all goes well I will be retired sometime around February of next year. I plan on going through all of my car stuff and make a list of what I have and try to sell it. Watch for something around then. I really don't want to throw stuff away that someone else could use. I wonder if it can be donated to the club somehow. Any ideas?
  5. Hey Willie, I could try to tell you that I had it in the attic with all of my secret Monte parts but I don't think you would believe me. Haha. Mike
  6. Nice car. Good eye, 1936 Packard. I would have loved to work at a car test track or proving grounds. The closest I got was I almost landed a job at a Government Agency in Buffalo NY that did crash testing with dummies and everything. That would have been a blast.
  7. Seems pretty weird doesn't it? How the technology changes over time and how fast time passes. My first car just turned "84" years old a few weeks ago. I'm guessing it will outlive me sooner or later. I always like to look at a car and try to imagine what was going on at the time the car was sold and what the buyer was thinking when they purchased it. In 1971, we just survived the 60's: Woodstock, British Invasion, Hippies, drugs, still involve in Vietnam, etc. In 1936, we finished WWI, still in the depression, car companies going out of business, few jobs, war in Europe, soon into WWII, etc.
  8. Don't forget the fiber optic washer fluid monitoring setup. Mike
  9. Does anyone know if there is a difference between the radiator supports for a small block vs big block car? Specifically for a 70? And if there is a difference, what are the differences? Thanks!! Mike
  10. Hey Dennis, Great pictures and info on these plugs. Thanks for posting. I was also going to say that maybe the power window wires/harness are not routed properly inside the door and when the regulator/glass move up and down it is contacting the harness and causing the plug to come loose. I would also make sure the harness never comes in contact with any moving parts. Mike
  11. I believe the 71 vs 72 headlight extensions are different. Also, the turn signal/parking lights are in the 72 grille while the 71's have them in the bumpers. I'm sure you could make it work if you had to.
  12. The sleeves must be removed from the control arm. They are part of the bushings. The new bushings will come with an inner sleeve, an outer sleeve and rubber in between. Look at the pictures of the new replacement bushings. Good luck!!
  13. Sounds like it is either the sensor or a loose/bad wire connection. I'm guessing it is the sensor.
  14. I pulled the cover off to count the number of bolts holding the ring gear to the carrier and the count is "10". Therefore, I think it is technically a "10 Bolt" rear with a 12 bolt cover?? From what I am reading it sounds like it could be from a late 60s Pontiac. Does that sound about right? The only number I can find is "CFD8" on the housing. Strange. Thanks!! Mike
  15. I need some help with identifying a 12-bolt rear. I removed it from a 70 El Camino but I can't say for sure that it is original to the car. It has no axle codes on it and the rear cover looks different. It doesn't have the usual "V" shaped cover. Could the cover just be the wrong one? Are there any other places to look for numbers to figure out what it is? Thanks!!
  16. Sounds like power is not coming out of the relay. Check to make sure the relay is wired correctly. Also, the relay should be energized only when the key is on. That will allow power to leave the relay. Try bypassing the relay to see if all power windows work then. Good luck!!
  17. Do you happen to have a vendor and part number of what you bought? I was thinking of switching mine over. Thanks!!
  18. What is involved changing from an A6 to S6 compressor? I assume you need to have 2 new ends made for the compressor. What about brackets? Anything else involved? Thanks!!!
  19. When I put 71-72 fenders on my 70 Monte, I went the other route of modifying the fender extension instead. I guess it would work either way. I just felt it was easier to learn on an extension rather then a fender. Extensions are much easier to find and cheaper to replace then fenders. Mike
  20. A member on Team chevelle "danhalt" was selling them. You can do a search on team chevelle for CD2 washer monitor float replacement and see what it looks like or you can email him at dave.anhart1@gmail.com to see if he still has them. 20.00 + 7.00 shipping Mike
  21. Hey Willie, I think the map light wire goes through the pillar and to the ACC terminal on the fuse block. You may need a fuse and pigtail for other accessory items. Not sure of the others. Mike
  22. This looks like it would work but it is in NJ. https://cnj.craigslist.org/pts/d/parsippany-chevy-el-camino-or/7067986116.html Mike
  23. BTW, great pictures Aaron!! You must have gotten up real close and personal for those pics.
  24. The end on those fiber optics lines is just a metal piece that is "dimpled" to stay in place. I've used ends from any GM cars from the 80s that had any sort of fiber optic lines. If you can't find any let me know and I'm sure I have some around somewhere. Mike
  25. I agree. There are good frames for sale on craigslist and ebay. That's where I would start looking.
