  1. It is optioned really well. Not sure if they seller will make any money though but would likely sell in the same range. Time will tell.
  2. $60k is in the ballpark. There was a nice red 70 SS454 that sold recently at auction for around $65k. I have my 71 SS454 for sale also in that same price range.
  3. OK, the seat belt light wasn't required yet so it makes sense yours doesn't have it. That woodgrain insert is certainly a unique conversation piece you have.
  4. Note that the seat belt light was not required until January 1972 so there are many 72s without the light. My low mile unrestored 1972 I just sold was built in December 1971 and did not have the seat belt light. Yours appears to be stamped for the seat belt light but was not cut out. Maybe a few were made that way during the transition. I would imagine it is pretty rare like that. What month was the car built?
  5. Here's an unrestored 72 with 11,000 miles. I pulled off the original hood insulation. The fenders were repainted at some point so there's a slight bot of gold overspray on the driver's side.
  6. If it hasn't already been said, it was black.
  7. Great list. Hereā€™s mine 1976 Cutlass S 1995-1997 (was my Dadā€™s car 1976-1995) 1970 Monte Carlo 350 Turquoise 1996-now 1980 Malibu 305 Tan/beige 1997-2005 1972 Monte Carlo 350 Placer Gold 2008-2013 1971 Monte Carlo SS454 Red 2013-2016 1971 Monte Carlo SS454 Copper 2016-now 1972 Monte Carlo 350 Gold 2023-2023
  8. Hereā€™s some decoding pages. Note that the last 6 digits of your VIN are not going to match anything on the body tag. https://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/resources/decodingbodytag/ https://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/resources/decodingengine/
  9. It was optional on all first gen Montes. Roughly 20% of the first gen Montes did not have AC. The AC option is less common the further North you go.
  10. I finally got a copy of it. A friend of mine dropped it off at my office today. šŸ™‚

    My 76

I had a 76 Cutlass S. Those GM colonnade cars drove very nice. Mine had the upgraded suspension.

Welcome Zachary! Nice ride you found. šŸ™‚
  13. I have been using Castrol GTX 10W40 and the larger capacity AC Delco filters for 27 years and 80,000 miles (132,000 miles total on the car). I just had the engine rebuilt over the winter. The cam was heavily worn but the rest of the engine looked really good. He said to simply keep doing what I'm doing but he does prefer the Napa Gold filters.
  14. Wow. Pretty late in March for that amount of snow. 50 and raining here today.
  15. We've done it before. A member locked his keys in the trunk shortly after arriving to the hotel for the Western Meet. We had to pull the back seat out and work at popping that trunk lid.
  16. Iā€™m always impressed how much those dealers can get for classic cars. I guess they have a certain type of customer that is willing to pay good money for what they want. Thereā€™s nothing wrong with that. I also speculate that a majority of the people who buy from dealers maybe also prefer that experience over buying privately and will pay that premium price.
  17. Bring it to the Western Meet. We can pull the interior apart there. šŸ˜
  18. Yes, they should match. The VIN plate and the body tag are not from the same car. Do you still have the blue sticker on the inside edge of the drivers door? That has the VIN and the month it was built on it. Have you found a build sheet in the car?
  19. I am a sucker for Sandalwood which both my Montes have. I grew up with white or black vinyl interiors but when I saw my 70 Monte the first time I really liked the Sandalwood. I always thought I wanted black but after owning my red 71 SS with black vinyl interior I didnā€™t like how hot it got in the sun. Thatā€™s one of the reasons I sold it to buy the 71 SS I have now. The Sandalwood is much cooler. I have also owned a couple 72 Montes with Covert interior which is similar to Sandalwood except it has dark brown carpet and dash. More like a 2-tone interior. As for colours like blue or green I think they look great when restored and looking new.
  20. Thatā€™s what its all about! Happy anniversary.
