  1. I didn't get a photo yet but I did take a peek at my original 72. The black comes up to a horizontal body seam in the door jamb. From the rear of the door jamb, it follows that seam along for 4 or 5 inches which turns virtical up to the sill plate. It is the same on the front part of the door jamb. I hope this makes sense. I'll try to get a pic posted tomorrow night.
  2. New or used? Try Koniks Klassiks (new/used), Year One (new), CARS Inc(new). You could also try posting this in the for sale/wanted forum as a club member may have these parts to sell.
  3. Yes, the bumper guards are the same for all three years.
  4. From what I remember from past board discussions, that seemed to vary by plant. My 70 was original paint when I got it and the black did not go all the way to the door sill trim. It stopped where the door jamb goes virtical before the trim. I know of others where it went all the way to the carpet. I'll have to check my 72 to see where it stops.
  5. As far as I know, that is not the TCS. The TCS is typically located on the intake manifold. My knowledge of transmissions in limited so I'm not sure what that is you see on the transmission.
  6. Adrian: Are you able to come with us Thursday?
  7. At this point, I think there is just the 4 of us driving together through the WA coast area (Me, Chris, Kevin and Jake). I haven't heard anything from the other Northwest members regarding this. I know some will be arriving Friday instead. My guess is that we may only get 1 or 2 more members for the Thursday drive if any more at all. I do know some people are going to be arriving Thursday from other areas.
  8. That sounds good to me. Yes, Thursday will be a pretty relaxing day. We'll get to the hotel, settle in and kick back for the evening. It's a nice way to start the weekend before things start to get busy Friday evening. We'll also have some time to get the cars cleaned up Friday morning.
  9. Sad day. We will miss you around here Bird.
  10. Terrible news. Stay strong Robyn, get better.
  11. For the paint, I used something called "trim paint" by Plasti Kote. It was a semi gloss black that is supposed to be better at bonding to stainless steel/chrome than regular paint. I painted the trim 10 years ago and it has held up really well. I also used this for the black details in the grille and taillight chrome.
  12. I looked closely at my 72 (unrestored original with 68,000 miles) taillights this morning. There is actually a little bit of red left on both. I'd say that's some good proof right there. I'll see if I can get a pic this weekend.
  13. My guess is GM wanted to add the virtical strip in the centre of the taillight and needed the 2 horizontal bars for strength (i.e. so the virtical bar does not flex or bust off). That idea makes sense since the virtical bar is raised while the cross bars are recessed.
  14. Maybe the original intention was to appear as though there is just a virtical bar with the cross bars there for strength and painted red to blend in with the lens. Could be that the red faded or washed off over a shorth period of time. I'll have to look on my 72 to see if there is any hint of red on the cross bars.

  16. They should be the same for 70-72 but I beleive the part that hooks on the bumper is specific to Monte Carlo. My part that hooks on the bumper has "Monte Carlo" stamped in it. The rest of the jack should be the same.
  17. I just made my reservation and will be bunking with Chris and Kevin. It feels a little more "real" now. Only a little over 4 months to go!
  18. SeaTac rest area is just South of Kent on I5 at exit/mile 140 which appears to be a good location for most Seattle area members. I think that would be a great place to meet.
  19. A few of us that are going to arrive in The Dalles on Thursday are planning on meeting somewhere along I5 in the Seattle/Tacoma area then continue as a group to The Dalles. We were thinking of either taking I90 or I5 to The Dalles. I will be leaving from the Vancouver, BC area and will likely leave early in the morning to avoid long lines at the border. Depending on the border lines and traffic through Seattle, it will probably take me 3.5 to 4 hours to get to the I90 junction. Maybe the members North of I90 can arrange to meet up at a rest area or some other location near the I90 junction and then we can all leave together from there. I'd probably get to the I90 junction area by 11AM or so. We could find a place to go for lunch, take advantage of the photo opportunities, then complete the journey. It will be nice as we will not be in a rush, just cruise at a decent speed. Anybody interested? Anybody have a good idea for a meeting place?
  20. 31 members now with just a little over 4 months to go before the meet. By State/Province: 11 WA 7 CA 5 AB 2 OR 2 BC 1 NM 1 NV 1 MT 1 ID
  21. Yeah, mine was white when I got My Monte. I stripped it all rather than repainting it. I'll paint it properly some day.
  22. Although I kept my 70 Monte strictly original, I painted the firewall, frame and rad support semi-gloss black since I find it is easier to keep clean. I painted the air cleaner, pulleys and brackets gloss black.
