  1. It was actually warm enough to push the 70 out of the garage to wash the firewall and frame getting it ready for paint. Also washed up the bumper filler so it can paint it the correct silver colour. The body shop back in 2000 painted it body colour in error.
  2. Steve is a member of the club in BC, Canada
  3. I replaced the accelerator pump in the 71 SS yesterday to resolve some fuel issues I was having. I was able to get out for a test drive today.
  4. If you can get the latch to function by manually moving the paddle at the top or pulling on the lever on the side of the latch then it sounds like maybe the latch itself works but the rods in the door aren’t pulling like they should. It could be as simple as needing lubrication. One other thing I ran into is that the pushrod on the outer door handle button wasn’t long enough to push the paddle on the latch the necessary amount to open the door. I had a door handle button with a longer pushrod and cut it down to the desired length. It now opens without a problem using the door handle.
  5. Maybe the lock is the problem in your case. It could be that when you pull the knob back up it is not going up far enough. Will it open from the inside?
  6. The guy who purchased mine in September drove it 1,700 miles home to Iowa without a hiccup. It really is an amazing driving car like it was new. I only maintained what was necessary (bleed brakes, change all fluids, change filters, new belts/hoses, new tires). The car still had original shocks, plug wires, etc. The guy has since added another 1,000 miles since he got it home. I sold it for less than half of the car posted. As for your car, I can see someone who really wanted it offering $35k. That is on the high end for a small block but not out of line for a really well maintained 350 car in great condition with some of the prices I’ve seen.
  7. I sold a 72 with 12,000 miles for A LOT less. The paint on mine wasn't as nice though. There's been more restoration and work done for a car with only 19,000 miles than I expect but it could be they simply wanted to pretty it up.
  8. That appears to be a small block air cleaner on a big block engine. That could be the issue maybe.
  9. Yeah, you definitely need to plan ahead with them but their quality is great. They don’t make them until after the order is placed. I waited 6 months for mine but that was 5 years ago.
  10. Welcome Adam! As you can see, everyone is completely sane here.
  11. CARS Inc shows the plain blue cloth bench seat covers in their catalog. There's medium blue with the pattern and dark blue with the plain cloth.
  12. I got my cloth seat covers from Legendary Auto Interiors. They take a long time to come since they typically make them after you order them but they are good quality. They matched my original seats perfectly. The web site doesn't show the 1970 Monte covers but give them a call.
  13. A drinking buddy and my wife won't be there to monitor my intake, that spells trouble. It would be fantastic to meet you two after all these years!
  14. Update: The builder said the block was in great shape and no decking was required. I'm happy I won't lose the factory stamping. Heads are assembled and short block will be assembled this week. He still has to determine length of pushrods needed and order those. I'm happy with the progress and will be excited to get the engine back in the car. I've been doing a lot of cleaning and some painting of the parts to get ready for reassembly (brackets, manifolds, trans lines, etc). I've collected all the new parts I need as well. I still need to work on painting the areas of the frame and firewall I didn't have access to before when the engine was in the car. I hope to get some photos soon.
  15. There are decoding pages here for the transmission and rear end. https://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/resources/resourcespage/
  16. Now I just need to find some trim rings in better condition.

  18. I pulled the engine and trans last month. I already have the trans back from the rebuild. My engine builder took the engine apart and the cam was very worn. I decided to spend the extra money for a roller cam. He said the engine is a great core. I should have the engine back by mid-January.
  19. I'll be staying the night before Gettysburg as well. I look forward to it.
