  1. Guys and Gals i need some help, I just bought a truck to haul the Monte with once she is finished, 1979 Chevy C-30 with 454 mated to a th400. I figured you all could help answer a few questions. 1.) is whiteish smoke out of the tail pipes a sign of a lean condition ? i think the #1 is fouled 2.) what size carb do you guys recommend for a 454 ? the guy i bought it from put a eddy1406 on it. which is only 600cfm and it seems to surge at low speed(around 20 mph).
  2. Hey guys this is my first post i could really use some help, I bought my first classic this year (72 Monte Carlo) i'm only 23 so i don't have 30+ years of knowledge to pull from. I have a small block 350 fully original to my knowledge. I recently installed a edelbrock 2101 intake and a 1406 carb. the car also has headers. After getting it running i realized i have little to no power after about half throttle, and it also pops through the carb sounds like it happens with every rotation. It does this in park and under a load in drive but only at what i think are high rpm. (no tach). Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
  3. Hi all, Today I did a little carb tuning. Needed to hear the engine roar When I plug my vacuum gauge, the needle is shaking, between 16 and 20 Hg/in. Ignition timing is set correctly. It's a bone stock 350, never rebuilt I guess. Just have 2,5" exhaust, new intake and 600cfm Holley. What does it means ? Valve problem ?
