What did you do to your Monte Carlo today?

Recommended Posts

The cruising days are becoming more limited this fall. It was nice yesterday so I left work early to take the Monte out for a cruise. It’s that time when the flowers are still blooming but the trees are starting to turn fall colours.

Starting to turn, it’s almost done here, expecting snow within 2 weeks, I put my cars away last week, getting the 4X4’s ready for snow, just got a 1975 square body GMC complete with a Plow. 🇨🇦

Still not too bad here in BC.

Got up early yesterday am to try and beat the rain, was 98% successful lol. Got the drive shaft loop installed and the new drag radials put on. My buddy (who loaned me the rear wheels) told me last night he had the wheels for the front "in stock" if I was interested, of course I am so it'll be another trip to the tire store to swap out the fronts. I'll reverse the white lettering so it all looks the same. Joe, i'll let you know how small the front tires look when i'm done 🤣 You can please disregard my lime green post it note, got so much going on had to make a check list. At least the to do list on the garage door is getting smaller. Hope to get to test and tune friday to make a few passes, mother nature has not been smiling at me the last few visits to the track.

The tires on mine are 28" tall in back & 26 1/4" in the front. I'm steering towards a 28" for the front as well to fill it up. There's too big a gap between the top of the tire & the fender opening I think (and the entire wheel opening in general). Problem is the limited availability of sizes/good tires in 17" even now.

I hear ya, I was just laughing yesterday when I took the pic after your comments. If I look level I can see over the front tire, obviously not on the rears

Just received my order for two parking light assemblies from the Parts Place.   Has anyone installed theses?  Are they happy with them?  They look great.

Went to some junkyards over the weekend, pulled some seats today. Just have them sitting in for now, will have to make up a couple brackets, and figure out some wiring...

Probably should have gotten them out of a 2 door...but they will work im sure...and super comfy. From a Cadillac CTS.

Got the fronts mounted, looks much better IMHO with matching wheels all the way around. Unfortunately i'm not going to make it to the track tonight, no matter what the weather is. Oh well such is life, its not the end of the world lol. And from the "Well Thats Interesting" file, I learned with the new drag radials the wheel chocks will not keep the car from moving over night. Luckily it only rolled back a few inches and the braces on the garage door are aluminum so theres only a small hardly noticeable blemish. Maybe if I had all 4 tires chocked but i'll just keep it in park from now on

Looks really sharp, Mark!  Those wheels coordinate nicely with your black-wall tires and black vinyl top.  Also, adds a mild racy flair to an elegant body style. Well done!

Thanks Dennis, I wasn't keen on the raised white letters before I swapped the fronts out. And btw the top is green, I know the pic makes it look darker. Also without the raised whites the fronts don't look as small compared to the rears lol, but I think it looks good if I do say so myself. And now I have 3 BFG's spare "in stock" , two used and one brand new spare in the trunk. I went with the Nitto drag radials on the rear because they seemed to have the best rating for regular road use in rain. While I don't plan on rain driving here in south FL its always a possibility, i'll just have to white knuckle it home lol.

Sadly today was the semi annual moving of garage stuff, I have a place to put snowblower and generator (when not camping) in the front of garage today I moved them to the back of garage behind monte for the winter. I could still get them out of the way just in case of monte time. But I also cleaned some stuff out that has been taking up space in the front, time for a dump run.

Yea, I definitely feel you pain, I put the Monte away for the winter and the G, installed the Plow on the GMC and we might just get a foot of snow Sunday, not looking forward to that.
