What did you do to your Monte Carlo today?

Did you find the splash shields you wanted?

I just received some Shields today from Rubber The Right Way. They are very nice and came with the stainless steel staples.  I did not know they came with the staples so I also ordered a package of them. Now I have two sets of staples which may help I guess the way my luck runs.

I actually will need a set of staples. I’m getting a set of shields without staples.

DragCat!?! What shake down numbers were you doing?!? Sorry about the trans mishap.

Hey Tom, nothing impressive lol, only made 3 passes before it died. 1st pass was just a light run, first time the Monte's been on the track. No burnout and the car spun off the line and down the track , 2nd pass was a little better. Third pass was a 9.41 and spun again off the line, I had started with 30# in the drag radials, lowered to 25# for the 4th run probably going to have to run 20# but will see. I was able to get the car off the trailer yesterday, shifter is working properly, weird, but still rolls freely in park so its going on jack stands today. Oh and that's 1/8 mile, hope to hit low 9's when its dialed in.

Both new inner fenders are in. The inner fenders take a little work to get them in and the holes lined up. There’s only 3 holes in each that I had to elongate to fit. I got new bolts and cage nuts at the local parts store too. They fit great and look factory. I’m still waiting for the A-arm shields and staples to arrive which need to be stapled to the inner fender.

Got the new engine pretty much ready to drop in. Specs are balanced rotating assembly with a factory steel 350 crank and flat top hypereutectic pistons. Top end is a Comp HE276HR roller cam, Brodix IK180 heads, Summit Racing stainless roller rockers and a Performer RPM Air Gap intake. Calculations put it in the 390-420hp range and about the same in torque with a meaty torque curve. Backed up with the TKO600 5spd and 3.55 rear gear it ought to really wake up the car.

Very nice. Well done. And it looked like fun??

The heater core is never fun but the rest was fun. Had the NASCAR races on the TV and just worked at it.

This evening I ran up to the storage garage and installed new AC-Delco spark plugs.

While I was at it I installed my 2021 Carlisle Events window sticker gate pass onto the windshield.

Getting them both ready for Carlisle. Also added an inline shutoff valve on the 5/8” heater hose off the manifold to eliminate heated air entering the cabin in the 72.

That shutoff valve may have to put you into the modified class...  :) :)

So I ran my gas tank pretty low with the intention of dropping the tank and adjusting the float on the tank unit because the gauge is not accurate.  Well time got away from me and the Syracuse nationals snuck up on me so I took car to the gas station to gas it up for the show. I put a can in the trunk just in case but only had a gallon in it. Well guess what about half way to the station it quit so I put the gas in it from the can, well it wasn't enough because the car was on side of the road on kinda a angle. So I called my neighbor he came to my rescue with his gas can but of corse it started raining while I was waiting. Interesting day lol. It's great to have great neighbors though.

I remember hearing a story where someone sandblasted their intake manifold, didn't get all the sand out and they had big problems. I think the steel plate (heat shield) under the center of the bottom of the manifold, was full of sand and it got into the oil and the rest is his story...
