Canuck
It’s not often I drive the Monte home from work in the dark. I could not resist the photo with the moon reflecting off the lake.

Rob Peters
About two years ago I purchased a very nice vintage 1970 Pennsylvania License Plate in Carlisle. This plate had been cleared by PenDot as a plate that can be used on my car. I was told it would cost around $135 to register this plate to my car so I put that on the back burner. About 8 weeks ago I took the plate to the local AAA office to find out what I needed to register this plate to my car. To my surprise it cost me less than $40 to get this plate registered onto my car. It took 8 weeks to get the paperwork back from Harrisburg but my car now sports a very nice 1970 license plate on the back, just like it would have had back in 1970. I am glad I finally pulled the trigger on this. rob
Leghome
Very nice Rob. I had thought about doing a 1972 Indiana plate for my 72 but decided against it because I did not want a green numbered plate on my Red car.
cny first gen 71
Was a nice sunny day today so I got mine out and took it out for a little ride around. Had a person here doing some work on my house (another club member) and of course we were talking montes a lot today. Don't mind the dust I just hadn't dusted it off yet.

Searsman
Will check for rust all the way thru, sand, use a rust inhibitor and sealer , a little paint and caulking around the window . Hopefully it last..
Searsman
Finished repairing the rust under softtop causing water to enter trunk. Scraped, sanded, repaired 3 match stick size holes. Applied 3 coats of Black Jack, 2 coats of paint, .window seal good, no caulking used anywhere. Put in new trim clips. Turned out good.. luckily didn’t tear or wrinkle softtop..

Searsman
On to the next job, guy that put new headliner in last winter did a good job on it but a sloppy job on the sail panels. I promised Ms Monte I would fix her up myself.. ordered new sail panels and cloth for them. You want something done right sometimes ya gotta do it yerself...so, she’s a waitin, gotta get some heat in this garage and get started...
Searsman
Finished the sail panels today, this is not a job, this is a fun project. Something I look forward to after I get off work.. posting pictures of passengers side sail panel because it was the worst. Previous guy didn’t do such a good job, looks like he put contact glue behind cloth but it caused it to bubble.. second picture is same side I did with new sail panel backing and cloth.. I surely do think mine looks better. Maybe I’m biased. You decide. Anyway, ms Monte is very happy 😃...On to the next project, Woohoo...
Dtret
I have to do mine. What did you use for adhesive?
Searsman
Super glue gel. On the back side only. Gorilla glue takes too long to set and contact glue has gas bubbles. Staples are typically too long. Watch the fingers tho. I used clamps and only did a 4-5 inch section at a time starting in middle so there would be no crimps.

EVC
Installed a vacuum gage… Will take my dog (Hank) for a ride… The Monte doesn't roll without the dog…
EVC
Took her out to a lonely road and put the new engine to it's 5000 mile test… Held her at 100mph for a few minutes and slowly let her drift back to a respectful 85mph for another minute or so.. Didn't use the 700r4 overdrive… The Monte held the road very well,,, leaving no doubt it would have done way more…. Everything went well…. didn't look at the tach … Went to the gas station… Edited January 8, 2022 by EVC typo

My first Monte, (1970 Monte) that I bought, new, off a dealer show room floor in early September of 1970 was Desert Sand color and over the past 20 years I think I have only seen one other Desert Sand 70 Monte. rob There is one in Yuba City Calif… Last saw it in Maryville at the gear shop about two days ago. Ed, you are new here and you are going to hear we love pictures. Not only pictures of your car but other cars you see.
