Nice one Ed, my dad is 77 and I’m looking forward to bringing him and my kids for a drive. I’d have him help me work on the car but he’s more valuable as a babysitter 😂

Paul ,

LOL.. For some reason my Grand Children won't allow me to babysit my great grandkids…

Ed …

Well it's been awhile since I updated. Lots of overtime, so progress has been slow. I had to recut and reposition the wheel well, buts it's welded and seams are sealed. Got the new quarter tacked in, so I hope everyone agrees it looks good lol. I've also got about 99% of my engine parts, so that is next on the list.

Dumped the rusted pipes and got a new dual 2¼ inch 304 grade stainless exhaust right back to the manifold. 2 silencers, no resonator, sounds lovely! Here are some before and after photos.

Karen and I took the Monte through the drive thru at KFC. Does that count as something?  First time it’s moved in a month and a half. Lol.

She let you take a break from your chores?

I got mine out today spent a few hours cleaning and getting ready for my first cruise in of the year only to get there and find out it dosen't start until next week,  bummer eh. So I went out and got some ice cream. There was another guy there too with a very nice 72 camaro who was doing the same thing as me because he went to it to. Didn't get the hood on my helper was busy with some projects of his own.

No, she’ll probably never drive it. Not my choice, I don’t care if she does. She’s never driven any of the cars. She could care less. Lol. We were sitting at a stoplight turning left and I told her to hang on because we’re going sideways around the turn. If look’s could kill. Lol. I didn’t do it. Was funny though.

She’s not so much a car girl, but she understands my mindset and let’s me get away with it. But it all comes with a price. Lol.

Hooked up the trailer to my new hitch and tested the lights. All went well. I was concerned that the trailer lights would interfere with the new Led tail lights… The new relays , triggered by the taillights, all worked well together.

On flat ground the trailer can be carefully turned to 90degrees without contacting the car or bumper. For the purist , LOL , The back up camera near the Monte script really helps it backing and the hook up..

Ed, I hope you never forget to remove that draw bar when no trailer is being pulled because it looks like it really sticks out a good way.  That thing could really be a shin buster.

Thanks Rob … Safety is always foremost in my mind… It will never be left on the car.

It's 9 inches overall from the receiver and 5" from the pointed tip of the bumper.. To clear the license plate I took some careful  measurements on this before we welded her up … Thanks to the many members and their pics,, I was able to make a hitch that doesn't insult the car and actually looks like it belongs..

I even took it to the local Uhaul store and they really liked it… They said they'd have no problem hooking up one of their appropriately sized trailers to this hitch.. Tongue capacity is about 150lbs .. My trailer will be about 100lbs with a GVW of less than 2000lbs.. BTW. the main bar between the plates is well gusseted to the steel plates bolted to the frame… The only limiting factor would be complete bending ,  twisting, or failure of that piece of the main bar… Very doubtful…

No doubt, I usually take the one off my truck when not in use, had a few close calls forgetting it was there
