Starting to tear down the engine bay for some work. I have the correct 1971 valve covers for it to replace the 1969 covers. I’ll also be painting/detailing the engine, painting the power steering pump, paint the air compressor, install a new booster & master cylinder as well as new plugs, cap & rotor.

First of all, the bay looks amazing.  The current brake booster, is that painted or anodized?  If painted what did you use so brake fluid will not eat through it?

I noticed the heater cut off vacuum motor on the intake.  Our 72 never had one, was that a stock item?

Thank you.

Been getting my girl ready for winter, too. Removed and stowed her summer car cover, aired tires and lift bags up to spec, topped off all the fluids and filled the gas tank with 92 octane premium plus 108 octane booster and lead substitute.  Maiden voyage to the local Publix on a grocery run felt and sounded good. Ready for winter fun - bring it on!!  😁

Thanks! The engine needs some touch ups.

The heater control valve was on 1971 Montes with AC but 1972 didn’t have them. I guess GM was trying to save a dollar in 72.

The current brake booster and the new one are pictured below. The current one was painted to appear like the plating but obviously can’t replicate it perfectly. The paint has been eaten by brake fluid as you can see in the photo.

I had the booster replated and rebuilt 5 years ago and it is stained with brake fluid but still an improvement over the Eastwood Rattle can paint job

Booster still looks wonderful with the paint.  I'm not going to be competition.  Life goal is Rt 66 end to end in the Monte.  (Minivan was nice, prefer going in Monte class next time).  Whatever booster I hang will be nasty after a 5000mi trip.  (est 300 gal fuel).

A/C I was planning on a 1/4 ball valve inline... I will look it the pneumatic like yours.  Thank you for the education.

Was going to get mine out today for one last ride but I noticed that they put salt brine down on main roads so I'm done for this year anyhow 😟 nice day here sunshine and upper 40s would have been a nice day for a ride. Guess it's time to put battery tender on.

Beautiful!

I am finally coming to realize the folks that have their car finished and driving cannot stand storing the car for winter... and the rest of us with our cars spread all over the garage can't wait until winter to get to work!  😄

Happy Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I do both. Enjoyed it for the summer, tear it apart during the winter to do some projects. I’ll have it back together (hopefully) by spring.

I'm fortunate enough to live in a place where there is no storing the car for the winter. It just so happens this time of year is the best time of year to drive the Monte. The Daytona Turkey Rod Run starts today and I will be heading to the speedway the next 4 days to enjoy the thousands of cars and all the vendors. Its a Seyboldt family holiday tradition; Thanksgiving at the car show!

I got my trunk all finished and the amp mounted just in time. Pics to follow.

It may rain some tomorrow, but if you do go I am at the exit to turn 4 right at the trioval, just east of the garage area where the Sunoco building is. (Look for the edge of the grandstands.) That is where the club parking is.

Clearing the workspace.  New doors hung.  Boxing up the the old ones protecting the glass until time to install in the new doors.

Does anyone have a recommendation around the midwest that I may have the new doors dipped and e-coated?

Thank you,

Brad

I’m not sure about coating but there’s a place here in Cincinnati that dips.
