Just trying to get into the stock class in Somerset this year You’ll be aces in the Stock Class… …if your Stock Class is Malibu/Chevelle. Peel off those trim rings and dump the wheels to guys with fake SS Chevelles…like Dennis. 1 3 Quote

420ponies Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Well, they spread salt all over our roads. So, no shakedown cruise this year. Oh well, it runs and goes into gear! Will be installing the coil overs on the front, wide belt moulding on the doors, Custom badges on the sail panels, then the new EFI Sniper 2 system. I will get the 1/4" of dust off it for sure this winter. Then get the exhaust fixed so it's not so loud for the grandson. I don't know, he might be riding around in some earmuffs.I'm going to see how quiet they make them for 6yr olds. 3 Quote

Tonka Man Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Still reasonably warm this year. I brought the green car home for some tinkering. I did a Red Neck paint job with some Shine Juice from Vice Grip Garage. This is the first time I've used it. I thought if nothing else, it would help protect the paint until I can strip it down and repaint it. See before and after shots from each corner of the car. Shiny! 9 Quote

bigtankjones Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 It's been awhile for me since I've posted anything on here. My Apologies. I've started getting the engine ready to drop into my Monte. I pulled this motor out of my wife's firebird last winter to put into the Monte since I blew up the Big Block two summers ago. Hoping to see some of you guys this summer in Carlisle. 11 Quote

Canuck Posted December 2, 2024 Author Posted December 2, 2024 It’s getting there. Working on getting the brake booster out. Those nuts are definitely not easily accessed. Next weekend the engine will get a good scrubbing in preparation for paint. The AC compressor was picked up yesterday by a buddy of mine who does AC restoration. He’ll put a new seal in it and anything else that may be needed. 10 1 Quote

Scott S. Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 So why wasn't the 427 cid included as an option back then ???? Quote
Chevy Dave Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 The 454 replaced the 427 offering more HP and torque by increasing the stroke and increasing the cubic inch displacement on the 427 without having to design a new engine. The 427 engines were used in the stock car racing Monte Carlo's because of the NASCAR maximum cubic inch limit. 4 Quote

Scott S. Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 With a few available from '63 on.... Makes me wish I'd bought that '68 Corvette 427 years ago. Only $1500.00 with a 4 speed. 1 Quote

420ponies Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 (edited) Yes,Mark IV motor(also known as the "Mystery Motor" ),which appeared in late'64 ( Smokey Yunick) , surprised a few on the track. Offered in the '65 Chevelle Super Sport (201, 1 for each dealer) ,but it was only 396 cu.in. Can't believe that was only 1 year and they upped it to 427 cu.in. . In '67 they even had it for the Camaro(427) . " Yes, I'd like to order a Camaro with a 427 and 4 spd please. And add a 4:10 12 bolt rear axle too! Thanks"😀😀 Edited December 22, 2024 by 420ponies spellcheck, added content 2 Quote
