714024SPEED Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Dug Tom's car out ,today is his one year anniversary since he passed away. Went to cemetery to visit him hard to read his headstone in the rain but has his name and "IN STOCK" engraved on it . Now time to get his car ready for Carlisle 14 1 Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted June 16 Posted June 16 I think of him all the time, certainly a sad loss for us here in the club and for your family! 😪 5 1 Quote
Rob Peters Posted June 16 Posted June 16 I also think of him a lot. I had a feeling the one year since his passing was near because I knew it was just prior to our Eastern Meet at Carlisle last year. I know it has to be hard on you and Tom Jr with it being the one year anniversary. Tom touched a lot of people in the time he was a member. Tom helped so many members here. God bless you all. Keeping his spirit alive here at the FGMCC. rob 8 1 Quote
Dtret Posted June 16 Posted June 16 I probably think of him too often with all the parts that I have, nothing compared to you guys though, and as I’m looking for something I always think’ Tom would know where his is’ and I keep digging. lol. As the newer members read this and wonder, you all don’t know what you missed. A wealth of knowledge and always willing to share it with others. The chatbox on Friday morning is our way of remembering and having a little chuckle on his behalf because he started it. In the little bit of time that I knew him he has left a long lasting impression. 7 1 Quote

I feel blessed I got to meet the klan ( the three of you 🤣) at Carlisle and happy your returning. Tom's experience, and helpfulness over the years goes without saying, but the memories of just kicking back with you guys always brings a smile to my face 🍺 8 1 Quote

Now time to get his car ready for Carlisle I think of Tom all the time, and I miss him daily. He was a huge part of this group, and it seemed like it was a race to see who could get an answer to a member's question first. Many a time, one of us was typing out an answer just as the other's response made it to the forum first 🙂. We had a lot of laughs, and good chats in the background. I go thru the texts sometimes for a laugh (and a few tears). I'm glad both you and young Thomas will be making the trip this year, and to see the car again is sure to stir some emotions. Safe travels & we'll see you in a couple days. 7 1 Quote
72 Monte Carlo Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Last night, my body shop friend Pat and I stretched the new headliner to the front, back and sides and put spring binder clips on the edges to hold it in place. We're ordering a special brand of contact cement that Pat used recently to install a 70 Mustang Mach 1 headliner, and it worked great for that install. 5 Quote

Frank, I will get pictures of the process when we get the special contact cement and start installing the headliner. I have the headliner bows all installed in their respective spots and in the same ceiling holes that I removed them from. If you don't get them into the same exact ceiling holes on the sides of the ceiling, then the bows will not sit straight up because they'll have some pressure on them from contacting the curved edges of the ceiling. This is my first time ever installing a bow style headliner, so it's been a daunting task that I've been procrastinating about doing because I don't want to mess it up. I figured that since I rebuild my own engines, transmissions, rearends, etc., I can learn how to install it with the help of another set of hands from my friend Pat who is the friend who will be spraying the new paint and clear coat on my 72 Monte. 5 Quote

Rob Peters Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Aired up the tires, cleaned and coated the windshield with Rainex and tried to put some wax on her. Got the hood, front end and tops of the fenders waxed before I was soaked with sweat. Packed the Monte for tomorrow's trip to Carlisle. rob 4 Quote

Rob Peters Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Made it to Carlisle with no issues. Only hit a couple sprinkles of rain on the way. We did get some more rain after we arrived but not much and now bright sunshine! rob 9 Quote
