Sam (Bones)
stock pistons will not last too long with a turbo
72MC
It costs a good amount of money to build a quality SBC to handle power adders like turbos or prochargers and have the engine last. It's gonna be even bigger money to build a quality BBC that can handle the same abuse. Hisalone
Sometimes, it's not necessary to turbo charge a big block. With the power that can be easily made naturally aspirated, in many cases, it would make more of a show piece. Otherwise, a properly setup turbo charged big block would need a whole car and drive train built around 1000hp plus horsepower. If your power goals are not that much, you'd be putting a lot of money into a build like that when it can better be used for other things. That being said, IT WOULD STILL BE BADASS!!! metalhead454
The Only reason I was considering turbocharging was the fact that its low compression, 7:5 I believe from the factory. I don't have my heart set on it, but it would be cool. I'm just trying to figure out what i'm gonna do with the motor, theres just so many options to choose from. monte70car
There is some that would take that 7.5:1 motor and throw a super charger on it.
metalhead454
supercharging it was my first intension, but i hated to drop $3000 on just the supercharger
Sam (Bones)
get a set of closed chamber oval port heads, cam, intake and headers and you will be surprised a gear change would still be the best bang for the buck
