Mo's70MCs
It sounds like a missing ground.. remember that just because you have the grounding wires hooked up, it doesn't mean you have a solid ground. Your ground should be carried and bonded from a solid ground. Do you have that? A continuity test light is a good tool to use, to check that. Murphy
Yes, the headlight switch wire does have the metal strap attached to it. That metal strap also attaches to the wiper switch by two screws. I think that should be all of the black wires. If you come up with an extra black wire attach it to the dashes steel frame in the area where the headlight switch steel strap attaches to. The dash in my picture is out of a 72, so things were wired a little different than a 70. Dan, Is the dash in picture the one now in your car? The wiring on the main pcb connector indicates an indicator light dash (idiot lights)The pink wires in number 5 position make it an idiot light style pcb. Do you have a photo of the front side of the dash?
RealRed70
Yes, that is an idiot light dash. The grounds do not change for a full gauge dash. That was out of a 72 Monte. Changing from idiot lights to full gauges just requires moving some wires in the 12 pin connector and adding two black wires, one with a white stripe for the amp gauge and adding one brown wire for the tach. The dash is out of the car.
Murphy
Plus changing the PCB and fuse block changes if your using a factory tach.....
