Slowly getting things sorted out! I changed the vacuum lines and low and behold the load level compressor is working! You can put your finger on the air inlet and she's pulling Air! How do I check for air pressure on these compressors? No air at the shocks yet, I think there is a melted line somewhere. I had these old wire wheels kicking around, they are rough around the edges but I think they suit the car 😊

Great to see another rescue! Great starting point!!

The paperwork shows sport mirrors right and left side..... so where is the right side mirror? Someone take it off along the way? Wonder if you can see inside the door if the holes have been filled?

My Canadian built red 71 SS was the same way. The documents say dual sport mirrors but only had the driver's side. I believe Larry's 71 in Ontario also was the same way originally.

All Canadian built SS documentation says the same thing, yet only a few had the dual sport mirror. This Monte is a one owner never painted original. Never had the pass side sport mirror

I was wondering the same thing! This car is untouched and just had the driver bullet mirror

Last night I finally got the AM/FM stereo 8 track from Jared. It was in rough shape, but a few hours and a parts AM 8track I had, I got it up and running! How rare are these stereos actually?

The right channel is playing very weak on this ole girl,  I had to completely swap out the volume control from my AM 8 track, it needs a bit more work but I I have AM/FM and the all important stereo light now!

The package tray was just ratched and throwing flakes of paper all over the interior.  I just made a new one of some corplast and some colour matching fabric I found. Here's the thing... It looked too good for the rest of the original interior! Ahh crap, I ended up rubbing it down with some used oil, now it fits the theme of the sunbeaten, faded original interior.

Just a quick fix to make it a bit less ugly to drive 😜

Hmm...I'll have to repost the two last photos from my pocket annoyance device....Been battling overheating issues. Last Saturday was finally fed up and wanted to get to the bottom of the problem! Pulled to old water pump off (yes I kept it, it was original to the  car!) Flushed the engine out with a garden hose and same thing with the rad.Went to Napa to get a brand new high flow waterpump and some powdered stuff that mixes with water to clean the whole system out. Sitting all this time the coolant was this kind of brown greyish gross liquid and the rad was plugged. I ran the solution with straight water for 10 minutes, then ran straight water through a garden hose through one of those heater hose tee things until the water coming out of the drain and top rad filler was clear again. The inside of the rad is all clean now and it's running ever so happy now that it is getting proper cooling! I figured this car shouldn't have run so hot, being that is has a larger radiator than a CamperSpecial Chev Truck

It's first long trip in 30 years. Sorting out plugged cooling systems, new waterpump, anything rubber, new brake lines, master cylinder, new set  of tires, of course getting the tunes working today. Logged 200 miles on a circle tour through  Southern British Columbia.Man it  was a joy to drive, this ole beast will roast tires in all three gears, while feeling like you're sitting on Grandma's couch. This circle drive is known as the WestKootroute/Selkirk loop. Weather was 90F+ all day, now dealing with a burnt left arm 😛

People are loving the survivor cars these days, had a good teen burger 🍔 and some 🍟 fries for a local car show at A&W.  Had an appraiser approach me was impressed with all the documentation, thank you Vaughn for having that done. I should probably get an appraisal done. Insurance companies suck

Another weekend adventure, another 200 miles on er, other than a loose solenoid wire it again never skipped a beat. Mentioned before that I ran some motor Medic engine flush through it last week, let it run for 5 minutes, dumped the stuff out, then put some fresh 15w/40 Rotella T and a new Napa gold oil filter. I still remember the demonstration on the Napa counter with the cut out of a Fram VS Napa/Wix. I hope no one here ever runs Fram crap! Anyways, after that flush, no more sticky lifters, engine is silent as can be, and I swear its got more power.  Personally I found the Shell Rotella diesel oil to be the best for these old engines, what are you guys all running?

The 71 is now sporting the blue deluxe seatbelts I accidentally bought from Hector's infamous #montenascarlo.  Few years back I was knocked out on painkillers after some nasty nasty dental procedures and bought them thinking they were black... Naturally, a few years later I just had to buy a Monte with a blue interior so I could do something with em 🙃. I also shampooed the interior which is why the seats look all blotchy. It actually came pretty clean, other than one spot where the material disintegrated from the sun damage
