I've got a new speedo cable and it spins freely or am I better off getting a used one. 1970mcss Posted September 4, 2019 Share Posted September 4, 2019 Does the speedo spin? You should be able to remove the cable and spin the speedo by hand to see if the needle moves. SmokinMC88 Posted November 4, 2019 Share Posted November 4, 2019 I’ve had a speedometer shop by me rebuild my speedo. Mine never worked that great since I owned the car and when I had the dash out I brought the entire cluster in to have it rebuilt. Only took them a couple of days and since then it’s worked perfect. I had it done 2 years ago. They rebuilt the amp gauge too because that test bad. If I remember right it was around $180 to do everything.
